Loved the story. It is edge of your seat suspense with some history, action and romance thrown in as well. It is worh a listen if you can get past the production. One critic wrote " Fans of old-time radio drama will particularly enjoy this full cast version." Well, if you like listening to people talk like they are using tin cans on a string in accents that would make even a grade school drama teacher cringe then you will be a fan of this listen. I have always wondered why audiobooks don't use a full cast to add drama to a production and I have hope that someone will do it well someday. This one made a great story almost unbearable.
I got "Eye of the Needle" as a special Audible offering. It is somewhat entertaining. When it comes to serious novels, I prefer fuller characterizations and more interesting plots. This is "standard fare."
This book may be okay, but I'll never know. The reader tried to use accents that were distrating, annoying and eventually intolerable. When he read normally, it was fine, but the accents he tried were awful. I felt totally ripped off on this one.
I wish that certain audiobook producers understood that people listen to audiobooks so that they can read at times they might not otherwise be able to. Read. I am not interested in having a book turned into some sort wierd play with multiple readers, wierd effects, interpretations that may or may not reflect the author's intended tone etc. There was an old Books on Tape version of this book where Richard Greene narrated it with barely an inflection and it was one of the best reads/listens of all time. This "narration" ruins the book.
Good Ludlum story. I read this many years ago and found the story line just as intriguing this time.
The voices, other than Lincoln's, seemed contrived, corny and often hard to understand. The book would have been better served if Lincoln's regular voice had been used throughout.
I just achieved App Scholar!! 1000 hours in 1 yr 7 mo and 10 days!!! I never thought I would make it this far!! Thanks Audible
This is one of Ken Follett early books and it is just as good as all the rest. The book has suspense, love and war!!! I think the great thing Ken does is add all the true History and true events in his books,Ken is a lot like John Jakes in that aspect. He even has Hitler in this book and Hitler depends a lot on his number one spy..I've read a lot of Kens books and this is a great read for in between book.. It's short and sweet with a good ending!!! The spy code name "The Needle" has met his match and she is the only one to slip through the cracks..
Yes, have enjoyed others.
No. Definitely not.
