If you like WW 2 books, this might interest you.
Always willing to give a second chance, sometimes a poor reading is due to the book material.
Again, certain parts of the book was interesting but in others, it seemed to drag.Overall, it was an "okay" listen.
Very well read. I truly enjoyed this book in audio format. The characters are well portrayed with enough change in their voices to be distinctively recognizable. I didn't want to stop listening.
The shockingly bad regional accents really ruined this one for me. If you are more tolerant of such things or not British it might be okay but it's not something I'd want to listen to again.
I am a retired school counselor (middle and elementary) and an avid reader. I am a lover of great mysteries, quirky protagonists, and medical/scientific non-fiction. I travel a lot and love the freedon audiobooks give me to drive, work, and relax while enjoying a good book. On my ipod I have eclectic musical selections as well as audiobooks. I will strive to never steer you wrong in a review.
This is one book I would recommend in another form. If this had been an audiobook with a single reader I would have enjoyed it.
The plot is somewhat dated as is the language but it is similar to many of the seventies thrillers such as The Eiger Sanction.
No! The performances absolutely ruined this book. The old-fashioned radio play approach along with really bad accents just made it unbearable.
It's great when the author can pull you in so that you are actually sympathetic to both the villain and the heroine at different points during the story. Narration with all the accents done well, and ramped up to keep the listener excited to the end, gets a "well done". Highly recommend!
I don't know what I expected. We were given an assignment to read Ken Follett's "The Man from St. Petersburg". When I couldn't get it on audio I read Eye of the Needle. Very interesting and entertaining. I love that Follett's, made the hero a female.
Eric Lincoln was awesome as the narrator.
The only bad thing I found is I can't get "The Man from St Petersburg" on Audible!
