I could not stop listening to this audiobook. I am a long time fan of John Grisham, and The Associate was definitely not a disappointment. His portrayal of a fledgling lawyer in a huge law firm dealing with seemingly insurmountable problems was captivating. I was deeply engrossed from the first word.
In the vain of Comic Book Man from The Simpsons..."WORST BOOK EVER" Please, do not waist a credit. I am truly surprised that John Grisham even bothered.
normally his books grab you from the first paragraph and then slowly build up, to a point that you cannot stop the story until the end. unfortunately not here, it took almost 4 hours until I actually decided that I cared about the characters, but only slightly and wanted to see it thru. the ending felt like he decided he didnt want to write anymore so he ended the book. really disapointing. spend you money else where. you will thank me for it.
Very interesting read, lots of specifics related to the big firm wall street world of associates being worked to death.
Have to admit the ending left me wanting more. Felt like grisham ran out of ink for his printer so he wrapped it up in the most concise possible way.
you'll find this novel pretty watered down. But if like Grisham, well it's what you'd expect and you'll enjoy it even if you're let down by the conclusion.
John Grisham is usually best when he sticks to legal stories and this was a fun read, excuse me, LISTEN. I wouldn't say it's his best but after that dismal Playing for Pizza I'm so grateful this is, at least, fun, I probably added a star in the rating it didn't deserve. If you enjoy John Grisham's usual stories, I think you'll find this enjoyable too. I disagree with the critics of the ending. I think the "bad guy" in the book wouldn't have allowed any other ending than the one delivered.
Very engaging all the way through. Loved it..... but disappointed with the ending. Seemed to lend itself to a sequel which I doubt is coming. I would still highly recommend it.
