Gotta listen as well as read, Davina seems (to an Aussie) to have the Gallic, French English and Scots accents down so well that actually reading it is more of a chore! Laugh out loud, cry too, just watch when you're driving, those tears are a hazard! So emotive, Diana does such a brilliant job of the story, you can't put these books down. Read them twice and listened twice as well, my husband now addicted too lol.
Many Happy Reading Hours,
I hear something new each time I listen. Claire and Jamie, as well as the other characters are like family and every time I listen, I feel like I've gone back to visit old friends.
Great story and the TV series is doing a decent adaptation but as always there is much more in the book
NO because with hundreds of hours listening, shall suffice.
Claire, would have enjoyed knowing her.
Her description of people and things, and her control of characters voice.
None but enjoyment.
Great job by all concerned.
The reader is a wonder! I was completely taken in by the story, imagining men and women of all ages, health and nationalities!
This story is so thrilling that it has become a constant companion with my stitching work and my before bed routine.
What a joy to be swept away!
Amazing novel, very realistic, intelligent and enjoyable all through the whole book! I loved the characters, the adventures, the very natural way Diana Gabaldon writes, the whole 18th century scenery, the romance and Claire's narration - especially the way Davina Porter read it. She's done a wonderful job with all the different accents from scottish to french, portraying every charachter uniquely and transmitting all the emotions and thought with only her voice. It was a pleasure to listen to it! I can strongly recommend!:)
A beautifully written book, rich with detail of Scotland in both the 18th and 20th centuries. I am eager to begin the next book in the series.
Davina Porter's reading was artfully done. She does a beautiful job of transitioning from one character to the next.
