The narrator is great he really made you feel for the characters. The story was interesting and kept you engaged. This book was a great introduction to the series and was definitely worth your credit. I can't wait to listen to the second book.
I'm not a fan of romance novels, but the historical nature and the suspense kept my interest. The games played in this genre does not mirror my life experience and it becomes difficult for me to suspend my disbelief that thoroughly. I will try the second book and see how it goes.
Just looking for an enjoyable story! Books are my passion.
It almost seems like all of the authors I love have hit a writers block and I can't seem to find a book to read. But one day while watching the Starz network, I saw the show Outlander advertised. It peaked my interest, and I watched the first season. I loved the show and wanting more, I got the first book.
What an enjoyable book! The narrator "made" this book. I've noticed others have called this a romance, but I disagree. Had it been one, I wouldn't have finished the book. I have book 2 in my library and I will be listening soon!

It is better for some not to have so many sections of detailed sex. The mind is capable of creating these details. For this reason I will not buy the rest of the series. What a shame. Not a prude, just don' want details. Otherwise, great story
Yes because of the narrator. She is excellent. She brings the characters to life in a way I don't think one would get by reading the book.
There are so many. Claire and Jamie's wedding night, how they became in separable, how Claire brought her 20th century knowledge to the 18th century. The historical accuracy is amazing.
She brings the characters to life. She is so consistent, which truly amazing.
Yes, it made laugh and cry. I became obsessed with the book!
This was my first audible book and I am now hooked!

I like many aspects of this series, the setting in the Scottish Highlands, the premise of time travel, the vivid characterization. I did not care for the very frequent and fairly graphic sex scenes, which became a bit predictable and repetitive after awhile. I will keep reading (listening) but with less enthusiasm than I had when I started.
Not in the unabridged version. The beginning of the book was exciting. I couldn't wait to hear what would happen next; a real digital page turner!Once Claire and Jamie were married the story became a dreary slog through what seemed like endless sex and sadism. I listened to the entire book. With the exception of their time at Lallybroch it just became tedious for me.
The Girl on the Train
Davina Porter's voices for Claire and Jamie were sweet and likable.
Frankly, it would depend on how long the film was.
I'll try the next book in the series in an abridged version from my local library.
