Say something about yourself!
Very well done!!! Just what a book should be. Give some information yet leave enough unsaid to make me go get the next book. Seemed so realistic!
Amanda Ronconi always does a great job!
This book was the pre-quel so no probably not.
The mystery of her "powers"
She brings me time to do the dishes and clean my house while listening instead of sitting on the couch reading it myself! Lol so I wouldn't experience a clean house
Say something about yourself!
Yes it's a nice prequel novella that is very interesting
It's short so really the whole thing was enjoyable
This is a short prequel and it doesn't answer much just gives the listener a quick bite to get them interested in the story, I will definitely be buying the rest of the books in the future.
I am open to reviewing quality products.
Oh wow I am hooked!! What a great way to get me into the story. Loads of intrigue and so many unanswered questions it would be impossible for me not to jump to the first book in the series!!
Really like able and engaging characters, even though you only get to meet a few. Kaylee is so like-able she draws you in from the start. Really endearing and spirited.
Can't wait to see what it is that is causing her panic attacks.
I listened to the Audiobook and loved the narrator!! Amanda Ronconi is terrific. She read another series I love and I was very happy to hear her voice again. She does a fantastic job of emoting with her voice! She has a fun snarky tone that adds to the read. I am also a fan of her swift reads, she instills energy and drama into key moments in the narration. The girl gives good voice!
Just another girl with too many books and not enough time for them all.
I was really into this one. I love the storyline and the characters were well written. The only issue I had was the title. What does it have to do with the story?
Science fiction, fantasy and mystery listener. Love anything with a good plot.
Kaylee Cavanaugh suffers a panic attack while shopping at the mall with her best friend, Emma. Her panic attack starts like any other but she has this overwhelming desire to scream, and screams a loud, unearthly scream from the back of her throat until she passes out. When she wakes up she is in a mental hospital and note sure how she got there. She learns that she started scratching at her throat and they want her to stay there to figure out what mental illness she has. Kaylee knows she's not crazy and doesn't belong there, but why does she scream like that and what are the dark shadows she sees? A fellow patient, Lydia, may hold the answers, as she seems to have special abilities also.
This series came strongly recommended to me many years ago and it got lost in the shuffle oh my other books. This is the prequel to the series and I opted to listen to it on audio.
I like paranormal teen books and at first glance it seems like this is going to be a series that I'm going to love. The book is short (the audio is less than two hours) but it does give us a peek into Kaylee's abilities and the battle she has trying to keep her screams under control. It seems that she screams when a person is close to death and sees shadows. We don't learn much more than that but I'm going to have to pick up "My Soul to Take" to find out all about it, as I'm really interested now.
I like Amanda Ronconi's narration. She has a good voice for YA fiction and she kept me interested in the story. The narration is neither silly nor over-the-top mature and as such I think she depicts Kaylee's voice very well.
This was a fun prequel and I intend to read the rest of the series.
I don't know. I haven't read the print version.
Her best friend who constantly stood by her.
love listening to great books while I work, clean, and drive...a great way to experience great books!!!
The final scene with Lydia... I bought book 1 as soon as I finished
When Kaylee had her episode in the mall...
wow this is a great book and gets you excited for the series.
This book is different, and I love different when it comes to supernatural books. Just this little taste of a book has definitely wet my appetite for more. I will be listening to the next book in this series. I have listened to the narrator before in other books and did not like her then.....for some reason, in this series (I think it is because the author is different), she is wonderful and I enjoy her narration.
Love this site! I have a very busy job, so listening to audio books enables me to keep up on great stories!
Yes and she can do no wrong in my eyes. I love her!
What a tease! Why is that girl screaming? What do you mean "She took too much?" What is going on? I appreciate the fact that this book was free and yes, I will purchase book 1. Just to find out why she was screaming!
