I am listening to it again now. The series is well written and the characters well developed. Susan Ericksen does an excellent job of giving them life.
This is the first book when Peabody and McNab hook up - so its great to see that unfold.
She is excellent in every book - breathing life into the characters she portrays.
She still stands!
Lt. Eve Dallas not only has to fight a mad bomber but solve a murder mystery ...wait, could the 2 be connected? If so, How and Why?
Find out for yourself! It's very exciting!
I always like visiting the world of Dallas and Rourke. The mystery here was pretty good, though I thought as we went along there were too many coincidences to actually be coincidence. I knew they would all pull together in the end wrapped in a neat bow. I always love the interactions between Eve and Rourke. Even when they're pissed at each other they help one another. It was nice to meet a member of Peabody's family and I loved the fact that she and McNab finally got together. It's been a while in coming. The cameo by Mavis was nice but I did miss her throughout most of the book. She's such a colorful character. Susan Ericksen as narrator did fabulously well, as always. Her voices are so consistent for the characters from book to book. I'm looking forward to listening to the next book in the series.
Loyalty In Death is one of my favorite books from this series. For those familiar with the characters, there is great character development for Officer Peabody - family visiting, love interests, and so on. There are several different cases & threads of the story that come together seamlessly, and in Robb's best style, Eve & Roarke take on the bad guys together at the end and make a great team.
For anyone looking to start this series, I really recommend beginning with the first book, Loyalty In Death. Although each story stands alone well, the characters grow and develop, and their relationships to each other change a lot over the course of the 35+ books now available. This one, which is pretty early on in the series, has a large dose of humor to lighten the subject matter - namely, a terrorist group called Cassandra is blowing up New York landmarks.
I highly recommend this series to any mystery fan. Humor, suspense, emotion, fun gadgets (Hey, it's 2059!), and plenty of characters that each have their own story and background.
I get so excited sometimes about writing a review..good or bad...that why sometimes I misspell words..lol..
I looking for a twist in this series. I know the outcome and wantign something different. Susan Ericksen is excellent as always!
It was nice to see Eve finally lighten up--her constant yelling and screaming and protesting gets old after awhile. This book was a nice mixture of the Dallas who still kicks ass but tones it down a bit. Pretty good story and an enjoyable listen. Great performance by Susan Ericksen as always with this series.
Hot romance/Sci Fi we're so lucky to have Audible to feed our book addictions. I love walking my precious dog Sydney & listening to my books
Always enjoy the In Death series. So love the Narrator as well, always does a top job. :)
Reading has always been my guilty pleasure. I would take stacks of books from the library. Now I listen to Audible.
I have to start with the ending. What a blockbuster!
My sister and I share these books and I am always through before her. All I could say to her was "this one is going to grab you" so hold on.
The book was a little different but it still kept me listening. As always, Susan is a fabulous narrator. I love her voices.
Thank you both for hours of wonderful entertainment.
Yes. Lots happening here. Might need to read it again to catch details.
The scene at the end would be epic in a movie. Huge.
She always brings in a good performance in this series. My favorite character voice that she does is Roarke's Irish brogue.
Will anti-government crime conspiracy be unraveled before national monuments are flattened, hundreds of people are killed? Eve Dallas is on the case.
