I enjoy reading fantasy, crime and mystery thrillers, as well as historical novels.
"A contradiction can not exist in reality. Not in part, nor in whole". This is the Wizard's Ninth Rule and is what Richard learns when a chainfire event is set off by four Sisters of the Dark and no one but he can remember Kahlan Amnell. The first of three Chainfire books that conclude the Sword of Truth series. Brillliantly narrated once again by Jim Bond this is a great listen and the beginning of the end of The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind, and I believe one of the best fantasy series ever written.
As a visually impaired person), it has always been difficult for me to read books in print, but Audible makes books enjoyable again!
I loved Chainfire! The story is definitely a unique one. It has the epic elements of a damsel in distress story, but with original, and really good, twists.
Absolutely. I've thoroughly enjoyed the Sword of Truth Series so far
Jim is a great narrator, but I think his performance could be improved with more emotion in his voice.
Definitely not. I wonder if Chainfire was originally supposed to be only 1 book, but then became too long and was split up. However, it wasn't quite long enough so filler had to be added. There are many sections of the book where the character's thoughts are repeated over and over again.
For most of this book, I was very frustrated. Richard keeps getting beat down and can't catch a break. And with all of the repeated thoughts, I often just hoped the book would get on with it and get to a good part. If you've bought Chainfire, suffer through it; the ending picks up and makes it worth it. I'm looking forward to listening to the next book in the series.
I just achieved App Scholar!! 1000 hours in 1 yr 7 mo and 10 days!!! I never thought I would make it this far!! Thanks Audible
After nine books where can you go with this story? How about a trilogy!!! Terry hit it on the head..This is a great first book, i feel sorry for Richard everyone thinks he is crazy but he's not!! He's the seeker and he will find the truth..He always does but in this case their is no Kalyn!! Know one can remember Kalyn except Richard.. This kind've reminded me of Dallas when Bobby Ewing came back after a year,he's just in the shower.. Chainfire gets really good in the last chapters when they figure it out and The seeker, the bringer of death, the war wizard,THE SWORD OF TRUTH figures it all out.. watch out four headed viper Richard and Zed is coming!!!!
If you like the Sword or Truth books already, you have to read it
yes, I have enjoyed all of the sword of truth books as good fiction. The last few books before this have become more and more blatant with his personal philosophies and politics though.
If necessary...his voices are good, but he has a very "whiney" voice that he uses when one character is lecturing another (which happens a lot in these books) and it is one of the few inflections that he has. In long speeches it is very grating.
yes - I miss the sword of truth TV series, I would like to see more of it translated to the screen.
For 3 out of the 4 parts of this audio book the story is sooooo redundant. The same story line stated over and over and over. If I boiled all the new plot down it would take up 1 page. Very Disappointed.
Technology, Mobile and Gaming enthusiast. Mischief and fun...
All my favorite characters were there, however, Kahlan plays a very small part due to her being affected by the chainfire spell...
Jim Bond gets all the character and place names right... and even changes his voice a little depending on who is speaking...
When Nicci had a talk with richard and encouraged him to carry on, even though no-one believed him about Kahlan's existence.
I don't know what it is with this series and the narrators, but so far they are hit and miss. The narrator for this book seemed bored with his job. Very little effort put into his performance/reading. The story was well written, and you feel Richard's frustration and confusion as your own.
Didn't like... Though you could always hear him.
this book was one of the first I have had as an audio. It was well read and I could still use my imagination of where they were and what was happening.
I am now listening to the other audio books in this series and I am liking them as well
Richard and Kalan as they want so little but still cannot have it.
the way he could do different voices to emphase the way they could have talked.
No extreme reaction just an unusaul one as I could still think about other things and get thing done with my hands like washing up the dishes.
Overall this was a good experience for me. I will be buying other books to listen to in the future
