This book could have been so much more. The storyline of Julian of Thrace and the love that develops between him and Grace impeded by his evil brother who happens to be a Greek God....
It was a good book for what it is. Romance and hot love narrations.
Narrator! Well, I liked her but after a bit, she gets on your nerve. She creates the necessary nuances and cadences in her narration but then she goes on to do it all throughout the book. This does lessen the scenes when those nuances are actually important.
Happy ending though and overall a good book to read.
This was my first romance novel. I am an ancient history scholar so I thought this would be fitting. And even though the story is not well developed, it was entertaining. It served its purpose.
I will venture off to a few other of these author's books. The reviews are fantastic on a few of them.
Sherrily Kenyon is a master at captivating her readers! Just when you think you know what to expect, she spins a twist so surprising you can't wait to pick up the next in her series. I love them all, and can't put them down. Super job, wonderful author! I love it!!
Just like the title of this review its a basic Xena episode drug out. This is not an over statement. Yes the mythology was interesting, but hardly worth the read when you have to deal with the terrible writing style. Maybe it was not a book to listen to and possibly best left read. I felt myself cringe most of the time from the Narrators exaggerations - they were horrible.
The basic premise of the story had possibilities, by the author did nothing with the story line to have any cohesive plot.I have to admit, I did not finish the book, something I rarely do, and will be returning it, too.
Save your money or credits- I ended up so aggravated at the poor quality of the story it was just almost torture to listen to it.
Quite possibly made me hesitate over any more, and certainly none ever by this author again.
The reader was good, but the book so bad nothing would save it other than a garbage can.
None, other than Audible has a return policy, thank goodness!
Avoid. Just avoid.
...but I kept thinking that the book has a pretty high rating, and I must have just not gotten to the good part yet. Well, there wasn't one. This wasn't even a guilty pleasure. I actually finished the book with fewer brain cells than I had when I started. I totally agree with everything Beth Lin from TX says. I am really trying to understand why so many people seem to love this series - I even listened to the second one, thinking maybe it would be better, which it wasn't. If you are seriously thrilled by any level of imagination above what you'd find in a discount romance novel sold at the grocery store, I guess maybe you'd think this book was really something. But hats off to Sherrilyn Kenyon - given how many books she's sold, she's clearly doing something right, even if I can't figure out what it is.
The book was fun if a little far fetched. The reader did an OK job but not particularly well done.
