I thought that "Roses are Red" was the weakest JP novel I'd ever read until I started this sequel. Never mind that the title has nothing to do with the novel; his titles rarely do. The writing was far below par for JP and the plot was so stupid, I could barely get through it. The so-called Mastermind of the two novels turns out to be Alex Cross's friend and colleague, which doesn't reflect well on the detective's faculties but reflects even more poorly on Patterson's lack of imagination. What happened, JP? I guess when you crank them out so fast, you're bound to get a few duds. Too bad I came across two in a row...I'm putting down Patterson for a good long while and reading writers who can deliver more consistently good work.
Not from the genre, but certainly from Patterson
They had a thankless task
God, no! Not another dud, please.
Read Robinson or Louise Penny or just about any other mystery writer before you waste money on "Roses" or "Violets."
Say something about yourself!
I have read several of patterson's Alex cross books. After the third one, the stereotypes are just tiring. Alex is the best psychological profiler. He is so good he makes enemies who stalk him. Alex is a down to earth guy who loves his kids and gosh he worries about them and goes on hyper alert when they are threatened, so naturally they do get threatened. Alex has a salt of the earth Nana who convieniently is available 24/7 to talke care of his kids while he is out chasing monsters. Alex has a classic car he drives. Alex is a cardboard character. The stories can be a good read, if it's one off and you have nothing better to do but there are much better writers out there.
I loved the book and want the next one but it's not on audible. One thing I hate about authors and publishers is when they get you all engaged in a series and then don't follow through
Yes, now please produce the next one.....DON'T SKIP ANY
Keep producing the books in order and make everyone available.
Good listen. Like most of James Patterson work I on it until the end. This one is no different,
Many twists and turns. Which how Patterson keeps his reader's engaged.
Too many to make a real choice. As all way's. :)
With all of the Alex Cross books that Patterson has done.
Finding out who the mastermind was.
I love James Patterson books but this one was difficult for me. The story line was strange for me but I still couldn't put it away.
The theme and the amount of details used to tell the story was difficult for me.
I enjoy the Alex Cross series and don't want to miss anything in the full story.
I don't think I would buy a follow up book.
Worth the time if you don't mind the graphic details.
Have not read it, loved listening to it.
The end when Cross was in the trenches. I could not see a way out for him. Also when he was put in the trunk of the car by the military. Hightened thriller.
I really liked them both!!!
Intriguing and Suspenseful
I enjoy the balance between Cross's family life (sweet), his friendship with Sampson and his detective work.
