The romantic and sexual melodrama, and sex scenes, were uninteresting, and felt like something out of a Lifetime movie. For no reason I can perceive, three of the four main characters are wealthy people with fantasy careers (famous actor, high class talent agent, pro football exec), so more difficult to empathise with.
Some of the mythology is interesting. Least interesting - pedestrian sex and romance, pointless fantasy careers which added nothing meaningful to the narrative or character development.
No, but she is superb.
I did not hate this book, as the rest of this review might imply. The story mostly kept my interest, though it did drag in the last 1/4. Much of it was just rather pedestrian. I would definitely listen to another narrated by Robin Miles.
The author's been compared to Stephen King in but I disagree. Stephen King is scary. This book is not. If you want King, you'll be disappointed. If you like daytime TV stories like Ghost Wisperer, this one is for you.
It was exciting, mystical, well done with lots of twists and turns. Well developed characters and fun to listen to as well as several adrenaline rushes. I LOVED this!
Very cliche story line that drug on forever. Used overly sexual tones in poor effort to try and cover up for a bad storyline.
Then to wrap up A terrible and cliché story; they end it with a lame out of a dream sequence, e.g. none of the bad stuff really happened.
Don't waste your time on this drivel. There are so many better books to read out there and too little time to be wasting it on this junk.
This book has an excellent premise, and the moments that had relevant story were great. Overall, however, it was log winded in a bad way. Descriptions of characters are repeated again and again, and there are some seemingly unnecessary overtly sexual moments. I'm not opposed or offended by sexuality in literature by any means, but a lot of it felt random, thrown in. It really bogged the story down. Every time someone described what a nipple looked like I rolled my eyes. They do it at least 20 times. If the story was chopped in half it would be brilliant. It did fill the silence at work for a long time, so I can't be too mad at it.
I loved it, I was pleasantly surprised. the narrator was the best I've heard so far.
This book ranks in the 30%. While others may like it, I felt it just went on and on.
I have not listened to Tananarive Due.
I have not listened to Robin Miles before, however, her performances here are A+
I did. I cryed and I laughed and I can say no more because I do not want to spoil it for anyone.
