I thought I'd try Sandford on the $9.95 offer Audible made. It is $9.95 I would like to have back.
The story is just BORING. I very, very rarely give up on a book on which I have spent money or a book credit, but I have never listened to a book that was so completely uninteresting. (The gravelly voice of the narrator certainly did not help.)
Do yourself a favor - instead of this book, try ANYTHING by Robert B. Parker, Robert Crais, John Lescroat, or Harlan Coben.
Always a wild ride with many unexpected curves. A very excellent listen--Ferrone is an awesome reader for this series! One message for Mr. Sandford. WRITE FASTER! :-) Just kidding--but truly can't wait for the next in the Virgil Flowers series later this summer.
PERHAPS I AM GETTING SENILE AS WELL AS OLD, BUT I DO NOT REMEMBER LUCUS DAVENPORT AS SUCH A DUMB POTTYMOUTH. THE STORY WAS AN INTERESTING ONE AND I ENJOYED THAT ASPECT OF IT BUT I DID NOT ENJOY THE FILTHY LANGUAGE SPOKEN EVERY OTHER WORD. IS THAT WHAT THE "WICKED" STANDS FOR IN THE TITLE?
I haven't listened to a book by Sandford in quite a while, but if I hadn't gotten this book for $7.95 I would have demanded my money back! Aside from the gratuitous foul language, the plot lacked cohesion and too many characters had similar names, making it difficult to keep up in an audiobook! I didn't even finish the book, something I've never done.
Maybe this is why I haven't chosen a Sanford book in so long!
I really enjoyed this book. I finished it in two days. If you've read and liked the other Prey books, you'll love this one!
If you have read one Standford book, you have read them all. This writer is among those writers which are "commerical" writers, same characters almost the same plot in all his Prey books.and is a genius in putting 'filler' in his books.she was eating a cheese sandwich, he was putting in to a cup, nothing to do with the plot, nothing to do with the characters.only makes the book longer. This book is full of the 'F' word, which gives it no help.Even at $9.95 this should be a pass.I would no waste any money on Standford books. He needs to get some new characters and a realy new plot.
Nasty characters doing and saying ugly, disjointed things. I couldn't get away from these characters and this story fast enough! I have very eclectic taste in audiobooks, but I couldn't get past the first half hour of this one.
The other reviewer who wanted his money back was right. This was on sale, but it is no bargain! I want my $9.95 back, too . . . .

A great book in John Sandford tradition! Richard Ferrone is my favorite narrator and he really brings the Lucas Davenport books to life.
