Eckhart Tolle, is enlighted. What a gift to have such a teacher living and offering his insights. In my experience the truth is simple. In "A New Earth" as in "The Power of Now", Eckhart's words are simple yet profound. Living in the "Now" is slowly become a way of life for me and "A New Earth" is another incredible work which greatly facilitates the process. Beneficial even for first time readers or listeners of Eckhart Tolle.
this book is spiritual, very spiritual to a point that i don't think is described in the notes. i listened to the first four hours hoping to grasp to story/message but i could not continue. the reader is just so BORING. listen to the audio sample before you purchase. give this a pass if your looking for something entertaining.
I listened to this book for 2 hours and couldn't tolerate it anymore. The narration was so boring and monotone, I couldn't even concentrate on the meaning of what was being said. I'm sure it's a great book with excellent meaning, but I think I'll read it instead of listening to it on audio. I didn't rate the content as much as the audio itself.
Unfortunately I too found the author's voice difficult to listen to... it's my own fault for not listening to the sample first. I was just so eager to get this book! But I just could not get past a certain point -my American ears were straining to understand what he was saying. I feel bad for saying it but that was my honest experience.
After listening to A NEW EARTH it suddenly all made sense - the universe, religions and our insatiable egoic mind, which is the source of so much pain and suffering. What's great is that the book doesn't just point out the problem, but it sparks a transformation that is part of the solution.
I have a busy career, travel a lot and don't have much time to read, so I listen to Audio books. I love reading!
Yawn... I was bored that watching a droplet of water running down the inside of my SUV was more interesting.. Maybe I just wasn't in the zone.. but really.. this was dreadful.
If you are on a spiritual path, or would like to be, read this book. I recommend you combine it with Oprah's online classes from earlier this year - she discusses each chapter with Tolle and it's a wonderful guide.
When I began listening to this audiobook, I almost immediately thought 'Uh-oh, I don't know if I can listen to this'. I stuck with it and have listened to it three or four times and have got more from it each time. If you are looking to be entertained and motivated by someone speaking in an excited tone of voice, then you probably won't enjoy this audiobook, you may get more by reading the actual book, or you may not get anything out of either. The teachings in this book are so powerful, it just might be too much for some. For those of you that are ready......Enjoy!
I didn't finish this book because it was hard to follow. Better to read it than to listen.
Perhaps it was the thick accent but I really did not enjoy listening to this book. It has been a week since I finished it and cannot recal one really significant point he made. I will admit that I may have lost focus earlier and that slanted my view of the entire book. However, he had nothing to tell me to capture my attention. I may give it a second chance this summer when I have time but I get a lot more out of other authors.
