The Best audio book I have listened to after a year with audible. The story is a good little read but the voice or should I say voices of Brendan Faser make it come alive. More Please!
This excellently written book became a visual masterpiece with Brendan Fraser's amazing ability to breathe life into every character! From the very beginning of our listening adventure, my son & I were enthralled. We became friends with the very lively characters in Dragon Rider and were almost sad when their quest was complete. The story itself is both exciting and morally uplifting and I can't say enough about Brendan Fraser's rendition of it. We have read all of Cornelia Funke's books and have enjoyed them all, but this makes the top of the list! We will listen to this story over & over! And Please, please, PLEASE have Brandon record LOTS of other titles... don?t really care what, anything will do :-)
This was wonderful and not just for children. It kept my interest throughout. The reader is amazing. He does so well with the characters and sounds. A definite keeper.
Maybe it's just because I'm interested in dragons, but who wouldn't want to listen to a story about a dragon, on a quest to find a place so beautifully named as the 'Rim of Heaven', being followed by the ultimate bad guy, and taking directions from a rat!!! With a small sarcastic Brownie making obvious points out along the way, this is the best adventure story I have ever read (on second thought, listened to!). Ashton
Bredan Fraser makes this book come alive - it is like going to the movies! We listened to it in the car and keep finding excuses to go on errands so we could listen to more!
I really want to love this audible title, the book is great but the narration is very hard to get through. While Brendan Fraser has quite a variety of character voices, the main ones are very drowsy sounding and some are downright annoying. Hmm, I think I'd love to read this book because I am a fan of Cornelia Funke, but I won't be downloading other Fraser narrations.
I would recommend it but with some hesitation. It would be way down my list.
The one voice the narrator did very well was the mountain Dwarf, Gravelbeard. His mumbleings cracked me up.
At first I thought Brendan Fraser sounded stoned when he read. There was no emotion in his voice. It was like he was bored and all the characters sounded bored too; even when the characters were excited. His voice did get more animated as the story went on but I think his performance lowered the my liking for the book.
Loved the book! Couldn't stop from listening!
Brendan Fraser has done a fabulous job as narrator! He brings each character to life. I can imagine each one as their own character even though he is reading it all himself. I really hope he does more audiobooks. He is a wonderful narrator and a great actor! He has definitely found a niche in the audiobooks world. Thanks Brendan and Cornelia Funke for writing the book! Please consider collaborating on more books to publish together.
Brendon Frazer did a fantastic job I loved all the voices. I look forward to him hopefully reading more books. I have now heard all this authors books this one is my favourite.
