This was the sequel to the fantastic book, “Inkheart.” This book transports you to the fantasy land of the Inkworld. With the same quirky characters, evil villains, three-dimensional heroes, and strange twists this was a fun ride. I really enjoyed it but for some reason I did not feel the same awe as I did with the previous book. Perhaps the pace lagged a bit being the second book in a trilogy. Still it was a fantastic journey that came alive with the beautiful reading by Brendan Fraser. He definitely deserves his Earphone Award.
I am 29 and loved this book - it's not just for kids.
My daughter, age 9, read the book and begged me to read it too, so I was happy to see it was available as an audiobook. Also, I was intrigued that Brendan Fraser was the vocal talent. This is an involving and exciting story, and is a little intense in some places. I didn't consider it particularly a children's story, with the exception that the protagonist is a 12 year old girl. I love what Brendan Fraser does with the characters, particularly Dustfinger, although he does throw in a mixture of odd accents for characters that are supposed to be from the same region. This is a great audiobook and I can't wait for the next one in this series.
Another fascinating read. The only danger with this one is that you won't be able to stop listening. The action and drama propel the plot; twists and turns keep you on the seat of the chair; the ending... leaves much to be desired.
I was left thinking, "this is it? It can't end like this!"
I loved the adventure, I loved the story, I loved the characters, but I hated the ending. It felt unfinished, and left me wanting something more, or something different.
Wonderful, expressive narrator. But I won't listen to it again, I think it would break my heart.
Should you buy it? I can't say - do if you want to know more about dear Meggie and Moe and Dustfinger, but don't if you can't handle a touch ending.
I bought this book because I was looking for something fun to listen to while running. It was so captivating that I couln't wait to get out each day and listen to it! Brendan Fraser's narrative was simply awesome -- I echo the previous reviewers' sentiments on his style and voices for each character. I recommend this to anyone who is looking for a great escape from everyday life!
