The Highlader series is my first experience with the genre and I have been pleasantly surprised. I enjoy each book in the series more than the last.
I listen to audiobooks will walking and this series made me look forward to it. Phil Gigante is the PERFECT narrator for these books!!!!! I highly recommend all the highlander series books!!
I'm one of the reviewers at the Guilty Indulgence Review Site. I am always reading - I don't go anywhere without an ebook or audiobook!
I'm completely taken with this series and am delighted by the narrator. Phil Gigante is the best for these Scottish romances. He makes my heart go pitter-patter. I just don't know if the story would be the same if I wasn't listening to the fabulous Phil reading it to me.
Romance, Fantasy, Science
He is an excellent narrator. I enjoy listening to his voice, he puts so much feeling into each character they really come alive.
Yes, but I would spoil the story for others is I were to explain it.
I did not want this to end. I was sad it did end and would love to see another book that continues on from this one. I know the author does not write sequels, but perhaps a future book about this family with flashbacks to the 15th century.
This story seemed to have a slow and sluggish start. As it progressed, it did get more interesting, and I was anxious to hear the outcome for the couple involved.
The highlander waking up 500 years in the future, was just too stupid at the beginning for me, and his actions and encounters with the modern world, seemed tiresome. I was about to go on to another book, but kept listening halfway while cleaning house.
Like I said, it did pick up later, and will most likely be enjoyed by many, who like a good romance.
Mother of 3, grandmother of 6, retired nurse and substance abuse counselor. Thrilled to have the time to read or listen to books again.
i was not impressed with the two previous books in this series and frankly had put off reading this one. once i started listening to it though it hooked me and the further into the book i got the more i liked it. it was entertaining and and it kept me interested through out the entire book. i'm still not keen on 16th century highlanders with super powers but the love story was touching and made me feel all warm and fuzzy. got to love a scottish highlander!
the narrator did a good job but i am also not keen on a man doing women's voices but all in all he did a good job.
"I wear a fez now, fez's are cool"
Phil Gigante does a great male voice and his narration is very soothing. Only complaint is his female voices are a bit on the snotty side which can make it difficult to really enjoy the women in this series.
The female lead was not obnoxious nor did I want to strangle her, except perhaps when she referred to losing her virginity as having her 'cherry picked'. The love story had some rather nice twists. I felt a little like I was listening to 'A Knight in Shining Armor' with a much more romantic ending.
This is the first book in the Highlander Series by that I truly didn't want to stop listening too. Finally, her female lead was someone I could get behind and wanted to see with a happy ending. The last 3 books, I wanted all three ladies to take flying leaps of near by cliffs and have the leads (excluding Grimm) pick me.I highly recommend skipping the first 3 for this one. Go back and pick up the other 3 when you are looking for a distraction and some minor back ground.
Researcher, editor, writer, francophone, anglophile. Started listening to audiobooks to conciliate my love of knitting and novels.
Yes, just like I expected it was going to be -- it's great. Mr. Gigante is a fantastic narrator. I find that in narrating love scenes could make the reader, and the listener, uncomfortable. The story if funny because of the people out of their time. Lots of angst and sexual tension. And you can't go wrong with those sexy highlanders!
Nothing, the book is just poorly written.
Yes, she has written something I liked. I wouldn't buy it though since i got burned once.
