I would absolutely recommend this audiobook. The book isn't short and if you want to read it at a faster pace, Reading does a fine job at that.
The character development and the message. It has a lot more depth and heart than Twilight. It is unfortunate that this wasn't published before Twilight since it will always be stigmatized and criticized by those who haven't read it because of the author.
Ian and Wanda
Well, it is going to be a film March 29th! Here they are: Love never dies.Choose to believe. Choose to fight. Choose to love.Choose your destiny
I tried reading it seven years ago and put it down because I didn't understand the concept. Don't do what I did. Instead, look up a brief synopsis if you have to. It is worth reading and worth caring about. Give it a chance.
Yes I would, i actually really enjoyed it. it was easier to listen to the first hundred pages than read them in my opinion.
I love all the twists and turns in the story, I read the book about 3 years ago and listening to it made me catch things I had missed before!
I think she did a fantastic job, she was never completely monotone which is really common in audio tellings.
Yes, but if I tell you I will spoil the great story!
This audio book did cut out several times and skip a few sentences while it recovered. That is my only complaint, I wish it hadnt cut out at such key moments.
Yes! This book is a "Keeper". "I've read and listened to this book many, many times and enjoy it every time. I have purchased the hardback, an e-book copy for my Blackberry, CD version and this audio book.
I thought this was a fresh idea. Earth invaded by "kind" beings, taking over the bodies yet sometimes a few become very caring friends of humans. Maybe more than a few?
Wanda and Jared sitting in the car prior to her going into the emergency room for treatment. She described her battle with the ice "beast" and I thought it priceless the way he reacted.
Too long for that, but yes. I plug in my earphones and walk for exercise, work on crafts or quilting , or when really pressed I listen while cleaning house or cooking supper. ~.~
I am so glad Ms. Meyers took a break from writing the Twilight Saga to write this book. This is my favorite of all her work to date. Ms. Reading is a wonderful reader and does this work proud! Her performance is great! I can not think of anyone else who could have read it as well. The timing, the voices were perfect.
Moving-Enjoyable-Thilling. I'm ready. To see the movie!!
It stands on its own. I really hope Stephaine Meyers writes more.
When Wonder woke to find that she would be able to live out her life with her new family and that they weren't alone, there were others like them.
I can't wait to see the movie now!!
Having read The Host a few years ago, and with the movie coming out this year, I decided to refresh my memory by listening to the audio book. This was my first experience listening to a AudioBook and I have to say, the narrator didn't disappoint. It was a difficult book to read, and thus narrate, given that there are essentially 2 characters inside the same person, however I thought the audio edition in many ways was easier to follow then the print version. In alot of ways I love this story better then twilight, as by the end of the book you have fallen in love with all the characters and are hoping and crossing your fingers for a happy ending for them all. For anyone that wants a action packed story, with a lot of love, then this is the book for you.
I have recommended this book to friends and they are fans too!
The characters are interesting and well rounded. The interaction between Wanda and Mel is clever and I love how the two come to understand and even care for each other.
Not a fan of the narrator's voice, a bit high and winy.
I can't wait to see the movie.
Light entertainment reading, definitely for a snowy day or a beach day. The development of the story was done well with no areas of "waiting". I found myself really enjoying the main character, Wanderer "Wanda".
Allow Wanda actual intimacy with Ian. All these people in this unique cave, living as a community and there is no hint of intimacy to the degree that someone could have become pregnant. Nor is there any explanation as to why, the women did not concieve. The only one with childern actually came to the community with those childern
no I haven't @ this time
No extreme feelings other than enjoyment
The author now needs to write a second book..just don't leave Wanda in that small body of a young girl without developing her so she will eventually become Ian's wife or mate.
Well written story with great characters and insights in different points of view. Love the well fleshed out story line and the unique outlook from both the aliens and the humans. Definitely recommended to all my friends.
Yes already have
This one is a little slower paced
I like listening to Kate Reading
Makes me thing of the future and which might be needed
So many books...so little time! :)
I have read this book years ago, and with the movie coming out soon I wanted to refresh my memory and decided to listen to it this time. I loved this book the first time, and I love it even more having listened to it! Kate Reading does a really good job giving characters distinctive voices and acting the words out so well, making the book that much more enjoyable!
I admit the first time I read it, to concept behind the "souls" taking over the humans as hosts was a bit too much and took me a while to get into...however once you keep going you are hooked! The love story in here is complicated but oh so good and will keep you going till the end, which considering how long this book is, is surprisingly all too soon. I recently found out that Stephanie Meyer might make this a trilogy series...and I am eager to see where it will go if she does. We shall see! Now I just hope the movie does this book justice as it has a lot to live up to!!
