I never tire of hearing Jim Dale read a book. After listening to the Harry Potter books multiple times, I found Peter Pan and was throughly impressed all over again with Jim's reading ability. It is definitely a must-listen if you enjoy adventure stories read by a suburb narrator.
Speaker by day, listener by night.
I came across the 2003 Peter Pan movie and loved it, so I absolutely had to get this book.
Such a whimsical tale, told in such a lively voice, this audiobook is sure to satisfy your inner child. No matter how old I get, I'd always love to visit Neverland, admire "the flamingo with lagoons flying over it", fly with fairies and fool around with a pet wolf!
On a more serious note, the story invites you to reflect upon "the riddle of Peter's being": in deed, who is the boy who refuses to grow up? Is he merely the personification of childhood innocence, or a symbolism escapism for adults? If Wendy had come away with Peter forever, what would have become of her?
But no matter how you choose to interpret this story, it will definitely make a delightful listen, for the young, and the young at heart.
Magical, enticing, and breathtaking.
The famous line, "To die would be an awfully big adventure."
James Hook. He did a magnificent job with the voice!
I have to say, I was really nervous about purchasing this book on audible and listening to another person give voice to such iconic characters but Jim Dale did such an amazing job that I ended up getting more out of the book than I did when I read it myself.
I love how lively, and yet dark, this original Pan story can be!
Pirates who may not be the smartest, but are still killers.
Deadly wars between the Pirates and the Native inhabitants.
The reading was wonderful and the breadth of characters acted was superb!
Just a cute fairytale about never growing up and growing up, make believe, killing pirates, snotty mermaids, jealousy, war, and a ticking gator.
This was fluffy, and my only complaint was that within the beginning of the story, Wendy kept trying to kiss Peter. I mean c'mon woman, you want to make out with the first boy to crawl through your window, have a little dignity. I suppose I cannot blame Tinker Bell's interference, I'm protective of my friends too, although she had ulterior motives.
I'd recommend this book if you want a blast from the past, and something easy and quick!
My name is Kira and I work as a librarian in utah. I love all kinds of books, but especially like fantasy and mystery.
Pretty high. When I was a kid, I couldn't get through this book, but listening to it with Jim Dale really brought it to life.
Anything by Jim Dale, his other Peter Pan stories.
Awesome. It was superb. I loved his voices and how he brought the characters to life.
Does laughing so hard I had to stop the audio to breathe count?
Yes, in fact, I believe if I had to give an audiobook to someone who claimed not to like them this would be the one.
The book Peter Pan is an adventure fantasy that will be enjoyed by children while speaking to adults. I've thought about several books to compare it to, but the best comparison is to the movie "The Princess Bride." Everyone loves the story, and adults enjoy the meaning embedded in it.
I have been an Audible member for a decade, and I believe this audiobook may be my favorite presentation.
fantasy fun entertaining
all of it
It is great listening to Jim Dale. A great preformer
when the kids got back home safe
It was very different from the Disney animated movie, but still a fun read.
I bought this because Jim Dale narrated it and I realized I had never actually read the book. Jim Dale does not disappoint (of course) and the story is a great story for grownups. Listen and enjoy!
