Although I am generally a fan of SEP's books, this was not my favorite. The first half was painful to get through because the narrator's version of a British accent was HORRIBLE. The story redeemed itself a little with a clich? but heartwarming ending.
What fun...coming from a family of southern drama queens, this hit all the right spots! I deliver mail, and am so grateful for audio books, they keep me from going postal...SEP made me laugh and made me think a bit, so, all in all, well worth the time....The only thing I didn't get was Colin's accent, it made a sweet and sexy man sound like a drip... oh well, am ordering the only other SEP book soon.
the best of humor and romance, only problem was that English accent the reader did for the main character - she made him sound like a fat drunk 60 year old duke... didn't she listen to herself first? Still - you can get over that - excellent book!
I started listening to this book, but couldn't handle the story or the accent of the person reading it. I have marked this author off my list to listen to.
I found the plot a bit depressing and the characters a bit hard to empathise with. Lacked much of the humour of other SEP books.
I liked the idea of the story but it was to pornographic for me.
I don't think I have listened to this narrator before, but the she was great.
Winnie was probably my favorite.
If it wasn't so explicit sexually it would have been intriguing.
I'm a big fan of Southern Belle drama queens in literature, and these characters are very enjoyable. I would love to read more of her books, but unfortunately this the only one on Audible, so far. Hint!
This story is highly interesting and very hard to swith off despite the painful narration. As a southerner I must admit being particulary sensative to bad southern narration, but this one would have made me too sick to stand if the story wasn't so engaging. You can easily distinguish the various characters even if most of them were painful. The British accent was also morbid.
She has the most bored sounding voice EVER! Yes, she can do various accents well, but all it did was startle me from nodding off at the rest of the boring, monotone narration.
