The book's main character Andy Carpenter is terrific! He has a wonderful sense of humor. The story is fast moving and witty, and I can't wait to read another. The narrator is wonderful as well. I love this author!!
This is another great book. Andy is a Me kind of guy. I here me saying and doing the stuff he does. He is sensitive, still Macho, and funny at the same time. Loved the read and can't wait for another.
I like David Rosenfelt's Andy Carpenter series. The humour, the deadpan wit, and, perhaps most of all, the fact that the detective is completely besotted with his Golden Retriever, Tara. For dog people, these mysteries are wonderful. The story in this one was even better than the first one I heard, Dead Center. I felt it was a bit more layered and interesting, more involvement from other characters, too. I audio-read a lot of non-fiction, and this book was a perfect "recess" for enjoyment and relaxation.
The book is good, the narrator spectacular. Perfect accent for that part of New Jersey. Interesting story with nice level of suspence. Fast moving, doesn't drag. We need more like this, keep 'em coming!
The story really is intriguing and is "hard to put down".
The characters are interesting and the reader does a real good job on this one.
I don't know which I enjoyed more, the plot or the great one liners. This is the first book I've read from this author and I am looking forward to the next.
The only thing that stopped this from being a 5 star was the music in between the chapters....not necessary........it was annoying. This is my first Andy Carpenter story and I enjoyed it immensely! The narrator was easy to listen to and I have now purchased the second book and look forward to another great mystery!
Well-done Abridgement and great first-person narration. This is a contemporary, very human cast of characters and a delightful romp.
You will also enjoy "Sudden Death," the next book in the series.
Wish Audible would offer up the first two books in this author's
4 book (so far) feature of this nonheroic hero!
Although I normally prefer unabridged books, the abridging of this one was very well done. It's an excellent mystery and the charactors are memorable. I'd like to be able to listen to previous novels of the same series and I'm looking forward to Sudden Death. The only thing I could have done without was the music- more of a distraction than anything else.
