This book, Alone, just didn't have the twists and surprises I've come to expect from Lisa Gardner. DD Warren was presented as a cheap blonde with the mentality of a sheep. She's always been a strong intelligent, flawed to perfection cop in other books.
Narrator did not do male voices well.
Sassy dialogue, humor, and a great reader are important to me.
I am not a great fan of this author, but Anna Fields recorded it and so I purchased it. Author likes to leave her fans with a thrill or CHILL and this had both. I must have 4 or 5 books of author but only because Anna recorded them. If you love thrillers, then this is a good one. If you are a fan, then this is great
Oh yeah! This story has that element that will resonate with you for a while. This is listed as book #1 for D.D., but her role is very little. This is Bobby's story.
I purchased this book as the late great Anna Fields read it. You must use the new 1.25x to fully get the fast action author wanted.
Not moved me, but scared me yes. Loved the ending
What is great about this book is the fact that it is a unique. Honestly, I didn't even realize how much I enjoyed this book until it was over. Never experienced that before. Brutal content keeps you riveted in a bystander kind of way.
Even though this is a detective D.D. Warren book, I was hoping the series would be more about the shooter. I will continue to read the series, because DD was one of my favorite characters.
For the story line, I feel the scene where Katheryn broke down in front of her Dad. A lot of family history came into play. It visualized the real "hard decisions" a parent has to make regarding grown children and the tragedy that can cause. One of the deepest parts.
However the romantic in my enjoyed Bobby's therapy sessions and hoped him and his Doc would get together. She was on his side from day one.
Almost. A day and a half.
Great intro into the series, although if the series is about DD I am surprised at the small part she played.
My favorite categories are mystery, suspense and thrillers. Psychological thrillers are my favorite.
This was a great read. The characters are well developed and the story very thrilling. I listened to this book until 3am. Couldn't put it down. Narrator was great.
This is my second read by Gardner. She certainly knows how to weave many complicated elements together to create suspense and build anticipation to the climax,
The story was action packed and suspenseful; I particularly loved the scene in the Judge's hotel where Kat and Mr. "B" meet again. Unfortunately, I did not like the narrator; her voice was uncomfortable to listen to and I was not impressed by the character voices, especially Bobby
