You will laugh out loud and people will try to have you committed. I am so very glad that I listened to this in my car because I laughed at this way too hard!! The performance was amazing, the inflection was spot on, I felt like I was in the actual story. I love Sophie Kinsella and will continue to read and listen to her books.
Although I like Kate Reading as a narrator- she did not do it for me in this book. She was annoying as the main character. However, it is a fun listen. I would discourage one from listening to Kinsella books back to back though- it becomes a little too much of a good thing!
Yes, it was a great book.
The little mystery in the book was great.
The end when Jack come back for Emma.
Yes and no. The story was a good one and it was very funny. But, I am not one who uses the words you can't say on tv and there were many instances of the word starting with
The plane ride with the brain dump, very funny.
As an American, it is exhausting to try to keep up mental English accent. I love the performance aspect of the reading as she makes the character her own.
Probably not, movies seldom live up to the book (except in the case of The Help which was phenomenal) and they would probably cut all the parts that showed the real personality.
This is my first time reading Sophie Kinsella and listening to Kate Reading. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Just as some of the other readers said. You find yourself laughing out loud at one of the scenes in the book. A good story, believable (although some scenes were overboard--not many) and the narrator made it even better. I found myself not wanting to stop listening until I got through the whole book. I will most definitely listen to it again and will also purchase another SK book through Audible. I will also look for Kate Reading in the future.
Loved it! This book was the audio equivalent of a page turner for me…couldn't wait to hear what happened next. It motivated me to get out of bed and do early morning housework and garage organizing for 2 weeks straight!
I love this character Emma Corrigan, she is so real and relatable, I was rooting for her through all the hilarious obstacles she encounters in this book. And I love that Sophie Kinsella introduces you to whole character in her books - you get to know her friends, roommates, coworkers, family, love life….all slightly dysfunctional in a way I'm sure we all relate to.
Light-hearted and lots of laughs!
So funnny, you dont want to stop listening.
Kate is perfect, she keeps you engaged, and i love the accent
I like the title like it is
I will continue to follow sophie
This was a surprise to me since I usually don't come across this kind of literature. The lead character clumsiness was really funny. The narrator's UK accent (which I generally don't enjoy) in this particular case made sense and perfectly complemented the character.
I really enjoy Sophie Kinsella books. The characters are entertaining and the description of Emma's life is almost certainly easy to relate to.
