If you're going to read, wait for the abridged version. This was really, really, really long!
I almost didn't finish the book; actually stopped listening for several days.
Several of the key people in this book were really very stupid. It was hard to read many parts because of that. This book had a lot going for it, actually very intriguing about unknown entities and what they could do to us, as humans. I really liked that part. However, it could have been portrayed much better. I was pretty frustrated after reading the book, and should have listened to the other reviews and not wasted my time.
I listened to it for many weeks off and on and it been several weeks since I finished listening to it. I felt like some of the characters were right out of Kings novel "Needful things", How could you not discribe evil people doing bad things in a similar way. Its as if two episodes of the Twilight Zone were combined with a soap about a sick town. I love reading Kings stories, he's my favorite author, but this is not one of his best even thou its well worth the read. I've become spoiled.
Intriguing and engaging.
Will keep you entertained for days on end, because this thing is like 48 hours long.
Nice job, King...
As a "Maina" by birth I loved this book! Lots of local humor and a thrilling storyline. I did not like the interpretive voice of Jim Reny though - he sounded like a southerner. Thank you Steven!
I listen to audio books every day. I am hooked!
Very good. I had almost sworn off S. King.
There are a lot of characters in this book, but don't let this stop you, as many do not survive.
As always, King has a way with words that bring scenes to life.
A very good value for just one credit!
Never been a huge King fan - usually too wordy, too discriptive and too out there for me - but i read the reviews and gave it a shot. I couldn't tell you why but i couldn't stop listening, it had me sucked in. The reader is wonderful - up there with Scott Brick and i was easily able to tell the characters apart. I'm just sorry he didn't go into thier lives after the dome.
This had all the feeling of previous Steven King. He makes you want to kill the bad guys yourself. I like how many characters you get to follow on the journey to hell. Good details on the dome and its effects on nature and the human nature. Reminds us how fast people can turn BAD.
The Narrator is good but I'm finding this book pretty boring. Overall I have to say it's a disappointment after reading some of the positive reviews. Wish I hadn't wasted my credit.
Vintage Stephen King. The character and plot depth are reminiscent of "The Stand". A real barn-burner (pun intended), I tried to ration my listening time, but just had to know what happened next.
The narrator's mis-pronunciations are a little jarring, (Chin-ook and not Shin-ook for the helicopter, Dumb-a-jen for what is likely DuMagen)but the material more than makes up for it.
