At first, this Christian book went against my Christian beliefs about what it does and does not mean to love those around me. Actually, I just didn't understand healthy, biblical boundaries accurately. Couple this book with The Anger Trap and I've made phenomenal changes in my relationships, especially in my own home. I really was backwards on a lot of my thought processes about relationships (and that's after obtaining a B.A. in Psychology with a 4.0gpa). This book is insightful. I'm glad I looked past the not so pleasant way it sounds at first. I just got used to it and then started to learn.
The material of the book is good, however, the narrator comes across as annoying, condescending and patronizing, especially when reading dialogue from a woman. He was so annoying I deleted he book after only three chapters! The only reason I gave it any stars is because the content seemed adequate, yet promising.
This book was amazing. When I first picked it up I did not expect it to change my life in the way that it did. I believe that every single person in some way struggles with boundaries this book definitely puts those into light and helps us in our understanding of our own boundaries and helping to set up new ones to better interact with the people around us.
this book is a must-read if you struggle with telling people no and feel like you don't have any time for you and your family
I learned a lot but it would be even better if there were social groups for it in my area so I could have some added support in learning and applying my boundaries.
Rather than go into great detail, I'll just say that I wish I would have had this book available many years ago. So many of life's painful struggles could be managed better with an understanding of the boundary lessons covered in this book.
