It spells out the issues of boundaries. It's a good book for couples, wife-husband, divorced parents, employee-employer, and business partners! This is a good book to know how to interact with people that may not be taught in college/university. Good for someone who is looking for jobs -- get to know the etiquette and protocols!
This is an amazing books & I recommend it to everyone. It is very practical and help me to realize how so many of us have wounded boundaries and what we can do about it and be free from all of our shackles.
Since Change is the only constant, Growth is change and change is good! I'm constantly seeking new books so I can feel good about changing!
I absolutely loved it and the biblical references. When you have these biblical principles to operate by you can't fail!
The content of the book is great. However, I find it painful to listen to this reader. His tone fluctuates randomly between cloyingly sing-song, a breathy whisper and pompously smug.
The material in this book is excellent. You will almost certainly benefit from reading this book, even if you don't think that you have any boundary problems. If you've ever felt like you've been taken advantage of, like your life is not going the way that you intend, if you have been unable to change your behavior (lose weight, pursue a better career, develop deep, meaningful relationships, live a life that you truly love, etc.), if you've ever believed that you need to try harder or just be more committed in order to make a desired change in your life, then this book is likely the best place for you to start.
Recently some significant personal, professional and financial problems arose which inspired me to pursue some necessary changes. Based on Dave Ramsey's recommendation I sought out this book. I now realize that I've been living with some major boundary problems for years, and that they are responsible for not only the major issues that inspired me to get this book, but also a long list of chronic, seemingly unrelated problems that I've experienced most of my life. I wish that I had read this book years ago. Please do yourself a favor and read this book.
All About Life
Go for it? Whoa! Not so quick. Listen to this book for a prospective. Rather than "Go for it" one might choose "Move On"
Definitely can re-voice characters in the book. It is a worthwhile investment for a professional narrator....unless you are Frank McCourt.
Good stuff...can't unpack it all in one listening
Organized in chapters to GOTO or back to.
Very boring and advice is all based on common sense
Relax and not be so judgmental.
His voice is very annoying!
Disappointment. I heard it was a good book.
Skip this one and purchase another uplifting motivational book instead.
The content of this book was great. I wish I had read the book, though. The narrator is terrible. If you can suffer through his reading the information is great.
I could not identify at all with the overworked door-mat mother that is the central character introducing the valuable lessons.
Several reviews have talked about the negative cast female characters have when portrayed by the voice actor. Any female voice actor would have been a better choice, especially given the tone of the opening hours of the book.
If you have difficulty setting boundaries in totally normal situations, with average people, as a result of your Christian guilt, this is the book for you. This is not the book for me.
I have not read a lot of self-help books, but hearing Dave Ramsey describe this book and on his recommendation I decided to give it a try. Let me tell you, it is an amazing book full of ideas.
I think the biggest thing I learned from the book is how my childhood experiences shaped the way I expect to be treated by others and how that affects my reactions and attitude. It really has given me a lot to think about and work on every day.
I look forward to litening to this book again and again.
