I really enjoyed the interactions between the vamps. How screwed up they can be in their own political nightmares. It just is not a special human thing. Plus the fact that humans can also be the most evil part of a nightmare. We often look at the monster as the "MONSTER", but in Sookie books, it is often the ones you look to for salvation that are the monsters.
Sookie gets constantly tossed around and beat up. I chuckle every time I listen to the amount of damage she takes and I think to myself, thank God that woman has a positive attitude, where can I get some for myself?
Johanna Parker really does the characters in this series well. The accents are spot on. And her pauses and vocal tones (whisper, shout, snickers, chuckles) are perfectly in tune with this series. She really is good at becoming her characters.
It is tough to put this book on pause. But you do not want to miss or let slip by any good parts! so you have to put it on pause sometimes. This is not a book you want to let slide thru your one ear and out the other.
Anticipation, involved and alluring.
I loved meeting the characters Godric and Luna.
Everything. I can't get enough of her performances. They are so much better than the other performers out there.
Believer in what you can't see
Yes, there is usually so much happening in all of Sookie Stakehouse stories that you just can't help but love the story. This story has so much action and the relationships are so much fun that I look forward to every book Mrs. Harris writes. You never know what will come up next.
This one is good, but there are a few that is better. To me this is just an additional book that introduces some future characters.
THe narrator is so good that this is one of the series that I only have in audiobook form.
Yes, because the stories are so interesting.
I am looking forward to see what else Charlaine Harris comes up with.
My reviews are rather simple but only because I want to convey my impressions of a story. I leave summaries to the publisher. LOVE Audible!
This is actually a pretty good listen. The narrator is really enjoyable. The story itself is ok but I think I have been over sold in this genre. The whole vampire thing has been done to death. I just want good ol' Dracula back. Johanna Parker is fantastic. I wish I could be more succinct in my review.
I am going to listen to the next in the series because I have already bought it. This is a take it or leave it book for me.
I like culinary mysteries. That is how I got started. I also like fiction.
This book makes my top ten "Listen to Again" list.
Sam is still there for Sookie. But even more, Sookie is there for her home town, even if they think she is "Crazy Sookie"
When Eric helps Sookie get the answers to Lafayette's murder. You can see that her defenses are falling. And Eric just keeps pushing to get Sookie to "yield".
When Sookie understands that Bill is a "hunter" by nature. That he will kill if threatened. When she knows that she can't change this but must accept it.
In this book, Sookie learns more ugly truths about the humans and supernaturals in her town. However, she still keeps her sweet and innocent nature.
I didnt read the printed version but this was excellent!
Love Sookie! I can relate to her!
If you are looking for deep reading you will need to go elsewhere. There's drama, intrigue, romance, and of course all the supernatural creatures you can imagine.
I wanted to listen to the next book as soon as I finished one. I like Charlaine Harris, and I like all the characters. It's interesting reading these after watching the True Blood shows. There have definitely been some changes in the show, the books are only from Sookie's viewpoint, so the show would have to be different to show the other people's view points. Well done.
The sex angle took over too much in this one, and it wasn't nearly as fun as a result. I will try the third one to see if it goes back to being more entertaining. Great narrator.
Fantastic, enjoyable and all together exciting!
Ilona Andrews' Kate Daniel. Both the heroines are smart, savvy and totally loveable.
I like her southern drawl. Totally lovable.
Charlaine harris makes one think that vampires, werewolves etc also love life and that they also have their rights.
