Greg Mortensen's story gives us a path to a better world. We may not be as bold and brave as he, but we can support the ideals he shares and lives out. A wonderful story, uplifting and mind changing!
I feel that this moving, important, summary
of reality in our world has changed, and is changing, it for the better. Greg's work shores me up and reminds me that, while I still have breath, I, too, can make a difference.
An amazing story. Well written. Couldn't put it down. Learned so much about history, geography & cultures. Fantastic read.
Terrific story about one man's mission to help bring education to some of the most remote and challenged parts of planet earth. This story is an inspiration to all who want to help repair the world.
Interesting story but too much repetitive detail at times, especially in the second half. I would recommend purchasing an abridged copy.
This book really takes you to a place that many have not seen. The the book gives you a mental, physical, and spiritual and description of what it takes to be a true human being. Amazingly his struggle is humbly told. I believe that this book should be read by the young so they can see that there dreams can come through, by a little hard work and a lot of perseverance. A definite must read. Oh and you may find your self laughing and crying at the same time. The book is wonderful.
I loved this book! A true story of an American who is working to promote peace in an area that many think will never have peace. The book also gives concrete ways that we too can help! Let's help build these schools and put an end to the reign of terror! Proof that each and every one of us is capable of making a difference! A book worthy of your time!
This non-fiction story is an amazing account of philanthropy. Although I did not particulary care for the reader, the story made it completely worthwhile. It is heart wrenching to think about the desperation some people in our world have for the opportunity to receive an education, especially when comparing that desperation to the nonchalance - or even at times disdain - with which many American children approach their education. As with most non-fiction, the story moved a little slow, but it touched my heart in a way that fiction cannot, and I would highly reccommend it.
Didn't meet up to the hype. Goes into detail on every boring little thing.
Quite listening when I wasn't into the book after 5 hours of listening.
