I have read and own several of his books and he is brilliant. That said, the information is good but Dr. Chopra is very difficult to listen to. His accent, along with his monotone delivery and what sounds like a lisp, I just couldn't get through it. I'll try it again later but he should really consider having someone else read it.
Here and now
So far I haven't read anyone who can mix science and spirituality like DC. I gave it 4 stars overall (wish I could go 4.5) because it wasn't a book I could listen to long. Some stuff required rewinding a couple times, but I still enjoyed the journey.
I just follow the signs!
Interesting. I read this book a month ago and cant seem to remember anything worthwhile. So I guess that says something. Not a life changer.
I loved listening to this, it wasn't loud and in your face as some can be, it was gentle and thoughtful and even humorous at times. Listened while driving, while painting and while walking. I finished and then started again. I don't think you can listen to it too many times.
I really like how Chopra insists that science is important and that energy is fundamental to existence.
I looked forward to going to work so I could put it on in the car - twice a day.
I will be listening to more of his books!
Being both a MD and a spiritual guru, Deepak offers a very unique understanding about the human body and soul. Throughout the book he gives both views (scientific and spiritual) about how our bodies work and how we can "reinvent" them. I have listened to this book 3 times already, gleaning a new nugget of truth each time. It is a life altering book as several of his works are. Thank you!
Great for improving your attitude & life.
This is one of Deepak's best works.
How to improve yourself.
Traveler. Artist. Dreamer.
It's up there.
Not for 10 hours, but it was hard to turn off.
It's an excellent book as far different thought development/changes goes. It also gives a different spin onto standard western life. I see myself replaying this often, but I think that a physical book is also necessary. There are parts, for example a mini questionnaire, where a book would be better.
I found the book to be very enlightening as to the mind/body concept and opened my eyes to a better understanding of who I am. I did at times find the audio a little hard to stay focused on and would have probably have done better with another reader, although I love Dr. Chopra and have read lots of his books, etc in the past and will continue to do so.
I would definitely recommend the book to anyone else who asked me about it.
I don't know if it was Deepak's ego who told him to read the book himself of it is my being aware, that even though he is hard to understand, still wants to try to get the best out this book. I tell you something: He should have better had some one with less of an accent read it, and with some more enthusiasm.
One thing I also miss in this book is, if there is a time when the ego is good? For example: was the ego telling him to become a doctor or just the awareness of wanting to become a doctor, therefore the ego again, who pushed him into a greater effort. Good advice but loose the Ego next time if you are Aware that more people would buy the book if a native speaker reads it.
I really wanted to listen to this book but could not get past 5 minutes of the authors droning, thick accent and monotone voice.
Absolutely, if it was read by a professional reader.
