LOVED THE STORY AND ALL THE PERSONALITIES
ALL - IT WAS SO AWESOME HOW THE READER MADE ME FEEL LIKE I WAS ACTUALLY THERE.
This book was amazing. I had no idea how good. I started listening and then purchased the book,on my kindle as well.
Probably the births scenes, but it was all memorable.
I could not put it down.
The reader was authentic and the story was beautiful.
The part where the Shiva tries to save the dog, the part where Marion saves the family from the soldier.
I have not.
Shiva, interesting and unique.
Female, love a good mystery, Victorian English literature and love to laugh (Dickens, Austen, Trollepe, Wodehouse, Gaskell, Elliot
Author - Abraham Verghese writes with feeling and compassion. I learned to love the all the characters who inhabit this wonderful novel.
None can compare, really.
Many! but I relish every scene with "Gosh"
Gosh, His deep love of people, his family, and his marvelous sense of fun and enjoyment of life. All traits to be admired.
I know this was a first "novel" for this author; I hope he will do many more.
This is a long book, perfect for a 4 day road trip! My husband and I thouroughly enjoyed this story, and the narration was very good!
The story is told with interesting chapters and in a linear manner. But the story line is braided, and the various stories, while progressing in a linear fashion, are beautiful individually and as a combined story.
The description of the characters
I am my brother's keeper
The reader is very talented with his accents.
Most of the medical stuff. Also exclaimed out loud several times at various intersing twists in the story line.
Amazing story. Reminds me of John Irving novels with a taste of Poisonwood Bible. Might be easier to relate to if you have a medical background. It's about conjoined twins who are surgically separated at birth (which kills their mother who is a nun). They grow up at a mission hospital in Ethiopia, raised by adoptive parents who are both surgeons.
It is difficult for me to "spend" two credits on one book...this one was worth ten credits! The narrater had a wonderful smooth warm voice and the whole story line is smooth and flowing...a wonderful story. I am very tempted to start right back at the beginning and listen to the whole thing again; it was that good.
This was a book group selection and I downloaded it as I didn't have time to read it. Not only did I love the story but I think Sunil Malhotra did an amazing job narrating. Each of his accents were so well done, I felt this was a big part of why I loved listening to it so much. The story is phenomenal!
Sister Mary Joseph Praise. What a patient and perfect woman! I would have loved to know her as a mother.
The accents were perfect. He relayed emotions and comedy very well.
Too many to list!
This is one of the most powerful novels I have ever read. 5 stars in all 3 Audible categories, with no doubt. While rating this, I compared it, in terms of my all-time favorites, with The Help and I had to go back and change the Story rating on it to a 4 because I think Cutting outshines the story. Cutting is powerful, intelligent and a most enjoyable read and I own both the print and audio versions. I'm always amazed when it is not in the top picks but perhaps that's because it is not a new release.
For those comparing tastes, Jim Dale's Harry Potter will remain my ultimate favorite. There are not enough stars to rate the audio versions of Rowling's books. In my opinion, the skills of both the writer and the performer are beyond compare. The quality of Cutting though, is darned close and what a joy it is to find works--of any genre--that come into contention.
