I LOVED this book. Colbert is a hilarious wordsmith. I enjoyed this book so much I listened to it a second time. He had me in tears laughing so hard!
Stephen Colbert's dissertation on life as he knows it really is laugh-out-loud funny. While this is not as unrelentingly hilarious as his TV show, his views on parenting, sex, and relgion are bullseye Colbert.
I was laughing my a** off the second i started to listen to the book, but after an hour I just had too much. I love Colbert's style, but i guess i can only take it in smaller doses.
I would probably suggest getting this because it is very funny, but the ranting, though i realize it is on purpose, gets a little old.....
Sorry Stevo, I'll keep watchin the show though!
I've never really watched the Colbert Report, but from what I gather, it's a ridiculously funny show.
From this book, I couldn't tell.
Though I admittedly laughed a few times, I'm guessing what works on TV doesn't necessarily work "in print" (I feel the same way about George Carlin -- I'm a big fan, but his books fell flat). Most of the jokes were unfunny, the topics uninteresting, and a sheer waste of listening time.
I definitely don't recommend this, except for the most die-hard Colbert fans (who will likely find more enjoyment buying DVDs of the show).
Stephen Colbert plays his right wing, Christian, sexually repressed, absurdly jingoiitic, mother fixated, incredibly shallow alter ego brilliantly.
Being a right wing, Christian who loves his mommy
.... I found this a hilarious read.
Funny always trumps politics for me.
I also strongly recommend Ann Coulters new book for another take on things.
Addicted to Audible since 2009
Love his show but hated his Christmas song and really didn't like this book too much at all. Just laughed a bits here and there but not nearly enough to recommend this to anyone else.
I have been a fan of Stephen for several years and love the show but the audio book is just boring and dissapointing. Waste of time and money. I expected more from him.
