Although intended for a younger audience this book was still a good read for an adult. I have loved greek mythology ever since i was a kid and this book does a great job of turning those stories into a more friendly version that anyone can enjoy. It softens the edges of rather intense stories and makes them fun and insightful while still keeping true to the basic aspect of what they were. All together it was a nice easy listen that was perfect to use for background noise or something for your kids to listen too that you can enjoy with them.
I think the narrator did pretty well. I didn't like his God voices though. He made Zeus sound ridiculous. I hadn't read the book already so I didn't have a character visualized. I think that's why a lot of people didn't like the narrator. My daughter didn't like him at all but she has read the books a dozen times.
in school as a class we are reading the lighting thief and I was so behind.
Percy he has good and surprising things about him.
No I have not
Yes this is the type of book that I would listen to in one sitting.
No comments, just a great book
My 7 year old boys would beg to listen to The Lightning Thief each morning when we got in the car to head to school. It presented a great opportunity to talk to them about the Greek Gods of mythology and share with them what little I could recall from first year mythology. We've just downloaded the second book and are excited to see what happens next to Percy Jackson.
