Yes, I myself am a HUGE Alex Cross fan, I've loved every one of the books. If anyone wants to read a great series with an amazing character, look no further.
This is one of the best books of the Cross series, definitely read this. In my opinion, the movie does the book no justice.
Senior Cit with ADHD?
This was a nicely woven tale and served as a break in my usual reading. It presented a vivid picture of a real "sicko."
I like the story and better the performance.
The main character is sort of believable with all his faults.
Having to rely his 'mother' figure to take up the slack of being a absent dad and getting into his head on learning how the bad guy thinks.
My main objection is the pschology that is used.
I know we've come a long way in behavioual pschycology but this story leans on quite a bit on this hypno-therapy which years later we found to be a false science.
Many people, such as men in custody cases, have lost their rights in seeing their children due to these 'repressed memories' which we now know to be fantasies of the patient.
Some of these people have even been imprisoned, sued or financially wiped out due to this type of therapy
Thankfully a few years later, they admitted that this procedure is not reliable and is not permissable in court.
It would be nice to see this book revised.
No, the narration made me wish I hadn't bought it.
The entire story is excellent.
His droning, stuffy nose tone. He seemed to be confused as to the flow of the dialogue in many areas.
This book was a chore to listen to in spite of the great story. I hope it is remade at some point.
It's a Top 20. I'm a big Alex Cross fan and I tend to favor the older books.
Patterson really got you turned around on this one as you thought they were chasing one really smart criminal and you find they are really chasing someone else. Since I had seen the movie many times before listening to the book, I had an idea of what was going to happen but the maze was a lot longer in the book.
When Alex Cross finally realizes who the real criminal was.
Cross' partner, John Samson, always makes me laugh.
I read all the time, or nearly. I always have, I guess, since I was very young ... and now, getting older, more audio than any other medium.
I have read other books in this series, but I liked this one best. The author paid more attention than usual to creating a character and defining his/her motivation. Subsequent books in the series didn't bother with minor issues like character development and Patterson isn't the best author for you if you like characters who behave like real people. It's reasonably good entertainment, though, even if you can't remember it later.
This book absolutely kept me intrigued until the end...much better than the movie!! Im a big Patricia Cornwell fan and Ive already listened to or read all of the Kay Scarpetta series so I've been looking for a new audiobook series and it looks like Ive found it!! You wont be disappointed!!
Daily commuter relying on Audible to keep awake. I need excitement! If something crazy doesn't happen in the first 20 mins I'm done!
I loved this story and loved the movie too! What a twisted and surprise ending. I will not ruin it, but the twists and turns were very entertaining.
I love most of Pattersons books, and this was no exception. I usuall try and listen to series in order, but I had some trouble getting all the Patterson books in the Cross series. It was good to see where things started. This was an excellent book.
