David Sedaris is a wonderful comic writer. But for heavens' sake, why would you sell a book of short stories as one long file?

I listened to this on a long trip. Not only did it keep me awake, but it kept me looking for rest stops, since I thought I might pee myself from laughing so hard.

It's great to listen to the author reads their own words, even better when they have their tallented sister to perfect the family dynamics of the dialog and immitate the voices of their childhood characters.

In the case of David Sedaris, listening to him is the kind of relationship I have already developed, and therefore - I'm connecting from word one.
I wish they produced an unabridged version of the book. When comparing it to the book, the stories just had pieces of great dialog trimmed off of them... too bad.

I like to listen to audiobooks when I go to bed so I can relax. I did not relax with this book because I was too busy laughing. Some say I have no sense of humor but they are wrong. I have gone ahead and listened to two more of his books so far.

When I read the glowing reviews of the book, I looked forward to hearing it. I was looking for something funny and it looked promising. What I didn't understand was how something could be very funny to one person and not another. I didn't find the book humorous and as a result it was difficult even to finish. If you already know David's humor parhaps it is a good choice. If you don't, you may want to learn more before you commit to this book.

As usual, David Sedaris is hilarious.

I'm at a loss to determine whether it is Mr. Sedaris' bland, sedate monotone or the vile, detestable characters and situations which make this audiobook as depressing as it is. Hilarious? I think not! Side splitting? To a mortician, perhaps.
If you're suicidal and find yourself on the fence as to whether to go through with it...just listen to David for 20 minutes! Dilemma over!!

If you like tasteless and disgusting humor, then this is for you. I could not get it off my Ipod quick enough. I was looking for something funny. This was not it. Don’t waste you time!

What a concoction of mundane drivel! I didn't think there was any end to this book! I forgot I listened to one of his other books after I purchased this one, WOW! What a mistake to have listened to him again! NEVER AGAIN!
