What a shame that this book was ruined for none-USA readers by the continual use of american terms in the mouths of Irish characters. Lost interest in the book halfway through as I just could not relate to the characters as they seemed so unreal because of this. Nora is usually my favourite author too. Could she not find an Irish editor?
I listened for 15 minutes and could go no further, the narrator is awful!!!! far to fast and no variety in his voice for characters... even when i slwed him down with the narrator speed he was still to fast.... what a waste of a credit
Sorry, can't rate the story because I can't get past breath gasps in the reading. I don't know if it is a performance issue or a production issue, but it is a pet peeve when each sentence is preceeded with a audible breath. Thank you for the opportunity to share this concern.
I like this author and her style. However, she is getting carried away with her love of coincidence. The story could stand on its own without some of the "incredible" coincidences that occur. To me this takes away from the total. I want to believe that it could possibly happen.
This is the first Nora Roberts book I have read/listened to. I am usually not a big fan of romance, but I loved this book. I loved the characters, they very well rounded and complex. I also liked the detail the author put into the glass blowing and the emotions of the artist. I thought the narrator was outstanding, and I really liked the accents he used and the emotion he portrayed. The story came alive around me and I was engrossed till the end. I definitely would listen to anything else by Fiacre Douglas and I am looking forward to other Nora Roberts books.
I read/listen to drown out the nonsense.
I like Nora Roberts, most of the time, and I think I need to actually read this book rather than listen to it. The reader drove me nuts, so much that I couldn't get through the first 45 min. I cannot really address the story because I haven't listened to all of it, I gave the story so far 3 stars because I figured that's a good middle ground.
I love to read, the books need to be fairly complicated or interesting in their own way. I belong to a book club that selects great books.
I normally like Nora Roberts books, but this one seemed to drag and I gave up listening to it before the end.
Day dreaming book lover!
Some other reviewers didn't like the male narrator but I disagree. I enjoyed this audiobook thoroughly. It was filled with humor, sadness and touching moments. I will definately get the next 2 books in the trilogy.
