Say something about yourself!
Craig Ferguson is beyond inspiring in his tale about hitting rock bottom more times that you think possible and still being able to pull yourself out of the gutter. Only he could have narrated his book, he puts emotion and his own unique comedic timing into every sentence. Its the first book I have listened to that was always serious yet almost always funny. He was able to tell funny drinking stories while showing how those stories almost ruined his life. It is a very unique book. Craig Ferguson knows what it means to be an American and shows his struggles in becoming one.
Such a fascinating and no holds barred story. As someone who experienced some of the same bumps in life as Craig and was also able to come out relatively unscathed, it was very inspiring and brought back many emotions throughout listening.
So far, I have not liked when authors read their own books, but Craig does a great job. He's such a genuine and funny person. It is nice to see someone who does not take his life (as an American) and success for granted.
Craig's book was fabulous! I very much enjoyed the fact that he read it himself! This added a depth to the book that would not have been there if someone else had read it. The humor that came through with Craig's reading had me laughing out loud much to the dismay of my children!
Craig's a great writer, and a fantastic storyteller. Telling his own story, he highlights the missteps, triumphs, and tragedies that brought him to US shores and how he made it his. It is both an "outsider's" look at our amazing country, and a deeply personal look into the life of a genuinely funny, caring and honest human. Get it.
I came from the same streets, and have had very similar experiences. This book is Honest, and tells a tale of what it takes to truly succeed is hard work, making sure you're in the right place at the right time, not being afraid to look like a fool, and the guts to try anything!
A great book-it is possible to make it even under the worst situations. Well written and I enjoyed his own narration. Hope to see other books on audio.
Listened to this right after watching his stand up show Wee Bit of Revolution. I enjoyed that it was Craig narrating and hearing the more serious parts of his life. Giant fan of his humor!
a great funny guy tells mundane details of his life that are really irrelvant to most unless you are an alcholic or recovering
A great listen from beginning to end. He doesn't leave out the ugly stuff. Since "reading" the book I have become a fan of his show.
