This is a phenomenal book. I have always admired Gladwell's writing style, and this is no exception. He also reads the book well, putting in interesting inflection and making sure that his point is understood. Worth a listen!
I'll be honest, I dislike the authors voice. I don't know why, he read fine, but I find his voice very difficult to listen to. I almost stopped listening immediately, I'm glad I didn't. This book is wonderful, very well written, well researched, and has great ideas applicable for many different industries. I know as a pastor I will use many of the ideas in this book in our church.
Could have been a bit more captivating in some drawn out parts due to the writing, but honestly that's just a criticism contrasting from the fact that the whole content was so captivating. Amazingly interesting and concrete idea and wonderful exploration of it.
Mr. Gladwell is a wonderful weaver of story and information. He includes enough story to make his work easy to listen to and remember and he includes enough information and citation to make his points credible. I enjoyed this book and learned so much simultaneously.
The argument and content are fascinating and applicable to so many different fields of study and professions. I found it very inspiring and I will recommend it to my friends and colleagues.
The author is the narrator and his delivery is excellent. He has a pleasant voice and engaging cadence. I will probably listen to more of his books.
I only gave 3 stars in story because sometimes I felt the story or argument broke down and I had difficulty threading all the different parts together. I felt like I needed a flow chart or some type of illustration. But I am a very visual learner.
Over all a favorite book.
The author illustrates it's points by means of stories, which I find really engaging and interesting. He also mentions some researches that went on to confirm or test the theories and beliefs he explains although he does not goes deep into the details of those researches. My bet is that the references are thoroughly documented at some point in the book (I just listened to the audio version of the book).
It was really surprising to hear how very little and subtle changes could have had such an enormous impact on the course of the story being told.
I do recommend the book to anyone who wants his/her idea/campaign/business/company to be successful. I can not distress how important the tiny details are, but this book will give you a hint on it.
Narrator voice was excellent.
Not about marketing...a mask for someone wanting to vent...just negative information about uneducated, low income people, but not how they affect the economy.
This books broke down the mindset behind major social trends into a two different buckets: the consumer and the producer. The benefit of this is that you get both an internal and external perspective on how social trends are developed and sustained (or not).
Love Gladwells writing and how he questions the norm. Definitely recommend it.
