I think the vocabulary of the author is extremely limited. I laughed at several places about the lingo he/she used. "You feel me my brother?" "Heey, my female!" OMG! I thought I was listening to the vocabulary of a 14 year old.
If I stood up to the simplicity of the novel, I desperately wanted to teach the narrator how to "narrate". I agree with so many of the reviewers. The narrator is absolutely and positively ATROCIOUS! This man should really find another profession. He reads the action scenes or the sexy scenes or any other scene at the same monotone voice. When he tries to do any different, he mispronounces or comes across sooo fake!
Lastly...what the heck is up with the names? Rage, Fury, Vicious - I see they are written in some different way but that is still funny! The bad guys are named the first letter of their last name. Vamps are just...ANGRY...Grrrr.
Now I must say this too. The story line was somewhat interesting. And, besides the torture of the narrator, I really want to know what happens to Bella and Zadist. Therefore, against my better judgment and jeer of my intelligence, I just purchased Book 3. Stay tuned to the torturous Mr. Frangione.
As far as romance novels go, this is the best one I have found. I haven't read alot of romance but other authors fall far short of JR Ward and the Black Dagger Brotherhood. Entertaining and steamy. I have listened to this one multiple times. Worth listening to.
I feel bad not giving this at least 4 stars but really i was disappointed in the ending. So far i have read 5 in the series and no doubt i am addicted! BUT i don't read them for serious fiction - i read them between heavier stuff like Pillars of the Earth or The Family when i need easy no brainer sexy stories to enjoy. She always uses the same formula...'im attracted but i can't, ok maybe just a little, no i can't, passion passion passion, no i can't, great sex, maybe, fabulous sex, is it possible - yay big finish - drumroll please...we are in love' - every book the same with great stories and even better sex scenes in between. I'm not complaining, i count on the formula to not stress that there will be a happy ending but this one (for me) ended sucky! We know because we hear Z's thought that he is mad for her but she always has to chase him even at the very end she came to him - where was the "i came across the country looking for you i can't live without you"? i needed the usual big finish. Sad really cause Z is one of my fav characters and i couldn't wait to see how he would "fix" things with her. The way he would pine for her when she was missing and then so easily set her aside when he could have her seemed a contrary to his character and left me dissappointed. I'm addicted though and loving the series anyways. They are cliche cheesy romance novel with a dark twist - they are great!
Great Narrator! This series gets the "p" word in my opinion. The first 3 books in the series show potential but that is all - this series could be great if everyone in them got 100% smarter. The characters are not fully developed and plot lines disappear. jobs fall away, slow witted use of technology is like fingernails on a chalk board. One character is an investigative journalist why doesn't she investigate anything? Especially when chaos irrupts within the group. Tracking devices - realestate holdings not followed up on - lack of recon on locations before destroying them makes my head hurt. And this is a race trying to survive? My guess is not really. Ms. Ward should trust us to be smart enough to follow plots that make more sense and are sophisticated. Does this dig you in deeper sure but hours and hours of missing understandings and lack of dealing with the obvious is brain numbing. Every characters conflict can't be the same. At least if I am going to keep reading - which unfortunately I am not.
I wish I was going to find out what happens to Butch and the other 2 males but I can't go on. This race is not thriving no shock there.
So, I've listened to the first couple books of this series, and it is intriguing...and of course it has the sensual part of it. But I think there is just way too much profanity in this one. I understand that it is part of who the main character is...but the language is just a little over the top in my opinion
Love this, i have read the series and just did not have time to do it again.
I TOTALLY FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS BOOK, THE BROTHERS ZADIST AND BELLAS LOVE
I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING THE SERIES
BOOK THREE AND FOUR IS SO GOOD
I WISH I COULD GET BOOK FOUR ON AUDIO LOVER REVEALED
JR WARD IS A TOTAL GENINUS ARE YOU THANKING ABOUT THE BIG SCREEN???
This story is 15:13 hours long. Yet, that was not enough time for me! Zsadist is my favorite! Of course, Bella is not a push over. I loved her focus and commitment to her goal – Zsadist. I also loved all the supporting characters. This story will be a comfortable reread for me.
Loved Z and Bella and love the series. It is the most touching of the stories in the series. Also a fabulous blend of the erotic with great story.
This was the first J.R. Ward Black Dagger Brotherhood book I read in actual book form. Z and Bella's story is so addicting with all its action and change made by both the main two as well as others. It was wonderful to be able to hear the book again made it easier to do things I needed to get done and still allowed me to enjoy the brotherhood world.
