I've always been a avid reader so now I'm a avid listener. I prefer the paranormal genre but I do like to switch things up. It's boring if you don't have variety. Of course I do love the romance and the hotter the better. Also, you can't beat a good thriller filled with suspense and a ending you can't even guess at until the very end.
Everything. It caught me right at the beginning!!
When Andrea died. I actually had tears rolling down my cheeks. I don't cry!! But this part I did. Don't won't to spoil the story but it was at the part when she went to the "place" and the indentity of the angel that gave her the second chance is revealed.
First time and it was very good.
Only a couple of sexual scenes in this book, at the beginning and the end, but this book is fantastic. I loved it!!!! It is worth the credit. I like numerous books but I'm rarely enthused about a book but this one satisfied me.
So boring. The majority of the time is spent on characters thinking out loud, which makes for a boring book--most especially when the characters are stupid. Throw in some laughable philosophy on life after death, a sudden plot point of a stillborn baby and male character voices that all sound choked and froggish and you've got one terrible book.
I hate wasting my credits--save yours!
Self Proclaimed Audiobook Expert...lol.
the beginning was good, the middle was weird, the ending was satisfying. overall this story was not what i expected from a Linda Howard novel but I was entertained and that's all I a can ask for.
story - 2.75
narrator - 3
Drea's attitude after the "event' that supposedly changed her outlook on life is still judgemental and her reasons for her change of attitude is still selfish. Every decision or move she chooses is geared toward just getting more points in her favor rather than a feeling of benevolence or empathy towards others. Even the fact that she wanted to get back at the crime lord, in which she decided to get him jailed because of his crimes and yet in retrospect if you think about it, was for reasons of revenge and not because she was fighting for her life or someone else's life. The crime boss didn't even know she was alive, or was actively trying to get the FBI to arrest him even though she had no clue as to his criminal activities or crimes that happened of which she could tell the authorities about, but because of her idea to get back at Rafael, this caused, Simon to make the hard decision he had to make in regards to Drea's actions. The author's thoughts in regards to this storyline, is very convoluted and not plausible. She could have written it better with a little more forethought and research, but I guess she just wanted to get a book out.
Love, love, loved this book. Absolutely LOVED Simon and Andrea/Drea/Andi. And, oh my gosh, Rafael got just what was coming to him. Action, adventure, love, sex, it had it all. I hated to see it end.
The narrator did one terrific job. I would definitely want to listen to her again.
I won this audio in a contest. I had heard good things about the book before but had not read it yet. I really enjoyed this audio. Joyce Bean is a favorite narrator for me and I enjoyed her narration as I expected. The story was good, and the flawed characters - especially how they retain flaws after miracles happen to them - were realistic to me because of the flaws that stuck around. I think this is one of Linda Howard's best novels.
I have a real crazy in love relationship with books!!!
The story line itself. It started off quite interesting but then went at a slow snails pace that randomly introduced a stillborn child from 15 years ago, the paranormal element really aggravated me. The paranormal portion was laid on so thick in a book that it had no place in. As a result, the main character became annoying and I didn't know if I was upset with her or the author. Even more than that, there was like minimal dialogue between the characters. Everything was stuck in the characters head. I expected so much more from Linda Howard. This was her worst work that I have read.
Absolutely not. I love Linda Howard's action packed romances. I will easily read another, because I mean each person is entitled to have an off day every now and then.
She is great. Very soothing and she is great with voices. Except her male voices are a little raspy. Not quite the manly voice I would like, but she does a much better job than I could ever do. However, besides that she is awesome!
Sighing...I don't know. The characters weren't exactly awful, just a significant chunk of the story.
This story did nothing for me. It left me hanging, wishing the author would have re-written and truly thought about what she was putting together. The only part I honestly enjoyed was the very beginning of the book, like up to chapter 4. Then you know how sometimes an ending will be much better? Nah..didn't happen. This book is not worth a credit OR your money. Sorry Linda Howard fans......
Solid 5 stars - both the narrator (Joyce Bean) and author (Linda Howard) seriously need to take a bow on this project. Amazing from beginning to end, though I will admit you have to be open to possibilities while listening otherwise a significant plot twist could derail you.
Actually loving characters who are on the wrong side of the law, that blew my mind.
Perfect blend of anxiety, passion and angst.
Definitely! Ended up forcing myself to go to bed and started listening again as soon as I got up.
Joyce Bean is always good, she can bring the character to life. I worry about her vocal cords though with the male voices she does
yes, at one point the sneaky author through us a curve ball
Linda Howard is always a good read. (listen)
