This book was a well-written reminder of the business communications and ethics courses taught in colleges today. While the story offered little to no "ahha" moments or truly salient points that were indispensable take-aways; the book did, however, places the story in a an organized format to get you to reach conclusions about scenarios before the story reached them. In short, the book was a nice fresher, but nothing truly new here.
While listening to this book, my wife and I frequently stopped to discuss specific applications. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is leading a team. Out team happens to be a church ministry team and we found it extremely helpful.
I'm not big fan of fables but this was so well written and realistic. I could literally picture each person and their personality as a real person I have meet or work with. I thought this was laid out perfectly and kept my interested throughout the entire book.
The summary section at the end was also useful. Bets book on team building I have come across so far.
What a great read the story was easy to follow and yet entertaining. What I've learned from this book will be shared with my team as well as giving each one of my team members the book to read. The concepts are easy and I look forward to implementing this in my workplace.
Leadership is not something which is given by virtue of ones role or responsibilities, it is something which is applicable to everyone on all walks of life. while the message in the book is directed to corporate world, the inner meaning is something that has to be understood and applied in all aspects of life.
Leadership in the service of others, to inspire innovative thoughts & actions, to 'connect the dots' & create our future, this is my crusade
The content of the message is enhanced by the fact that it is presented as a story about people we can all identify with. The framework layout by the author is clear and consistent through out the book.
If you listen to this book and don't come away with a plan as to how you can improve yourself and any team you are part of, I would be very surprise.
At the risk of sounding overstated, this book was transformative for me. It Identified several issues I had always suspected but never been able to put a finger on, and gave great tools for working on them in an easygoing, fast-read storyline. I see myself listening to this one on a regular basis for reinforcement.
Patrick Lencioni has a way of story telling that's unusual. He puts a full story together that's easy to follow and makes sense. I enjoy his books.
