Davina's narration is perfect. How she voices all of those characters is beyond me. It is superb. Of course, the story line continues to go deeper. Now that they are in America I keep expecting them to cross paths with historical figures of the time as they did in France. We'll just have to wait and see now that the whole family seems to be staying in the past.
I have loved all the outlander books so far. This is the first one i have listened to on audio book and it makes the characters and scenes come to life even more on my imagination!
I love Epic Fantasy....have become a Historical Romance fan because I am a sucker for a good Happily Ever After. Good characters are a must
It's strange to say but as I began drums of autumn I realized that I was missing one of the main characters that was always in the background. The setting of Scotland and France and all the foreign places I as an American love to hear about. But of course as soon as the story began to unfold, I realized that this early America (while I could visualize the landscapes a little more easily) was still a place that was exotic and unknown to me.
Gabaldon knows how to have you laughing one second and rip your heart from your chest in the next.
If you've had trouble liking Lord John Grey in the previous books you may find that you finally like him in this book.
Brianna and Roger have begun to be an integral part of the story and while I originally thought I would dislike this.....oh it is a wonderful thing now.
It's just wonderful. It has everything the other books have...the things that keep you glued to the story and tile things that make you laugh out loud, cry out loud, curse Diana Gabaldon and praise her.
It's not like you won't listen to this book. You have to. And if you consider listening or not listening based off of reviews when you are this far in the series....you probably aren't as invested in the series as the rest of us and need to move on!
