Avid reader/listener of just about anything.
Mesmerizing and eye-opening from the first chapter right through to the end of the book. It was presented in such a manor that I was almost cheering for Richard at points during the book, not particularly something to be proud of. As loathsome as I believe the man to be, I cannot hide my fascination for this. The things he did and the way he did them still send chills down my spine. I feed my lizard a RAT once a week and I look at it in a whole new light now. Thanks Rich!
Seriously, this is well worth the trip it will inevitably take you on even if the editing could be a little neater, the story outweighs the prose.
Of all the true crime thrillers available on this site, Ice Man is truly the most gripping and entertaining audiobook yet. This diabolical murderer has almost as many complex compartments entwined in his warped personality as he has methods of torturing and exterminating his hopeless prey. The distinguishing characteristic of this prolific serial killer was his overall genuine likeability and cryptic creativity. Absolutely awesome narrator- MUST READ!!!
This is an interesting story in serious need of an editor. Lots of repetition, heaps of trite phrases and the narrative voice keeps changing - sometimes in the same paragraph (from second person reporting to first person opinion. Terribly confusing). There is so much repetition I thought my iPod was stuck on rewind.
The subject is such a frightening person, just telling his story as flat observation might have worked better. After all, 30 years as a prolific, sadistic killer is an eye-popper of a resume all by itself.
The Ice Man is aptly named. Truly a book that I couldn't put down, and one that drove me to the Internet for further research and information.

Get ready to listen to a great true story about the most dangerous man in the world. Not for weak stomachs!!! So graphic, I felt part of the action. Nothing has ever interfered with my work. "The Ice Man" by Philip Carlo did. Imagine listening to something for 8 hours, 10 hours, or even 12 hours without a break? Everything about this presentation is fantastic...from the story itself, to the drama that Michael Prichard presented into its reading. This is true crime at its best! Listen and shiver. I could not believe what I was hearing. If you like true crime stories, DO NOT PASS THIS AUDIO BOOK UP. The bonus feature led me to the Internet in order to find more information about Richard. AND DID I…
Somehow Carlo managed to enter the mind of this horrific human being. He was able to capture every nuance and chilling detail. How any human could commit such sickening and appalling crimes without so much as a speck of remorse is nearly unbelievable. Truth is stranger than fiction and if you are into true crime, this book will hold you in its clutches to the very end
I found this Audio Book, one that I couldn't put down and couldn't wait for the next (page). I would highly recommend this book to those that are interested in intense details and believing that they are there with the characters. It may have been long, but well worth each minute. I have listened to others and haven't found many that kept me on the edge of my seat as this had. I also admire the narrator of the book, he did it much justice.
I found this book interesting but overlong and repetitious. I did finish but this was one book I would have preferred to have been the condensed version.
There are some extremely gory descriptions of torture.
This is a very interesting story but the author chooses to say the same thing over and over and over... sometimes I thought the book had track had started over on its own. The facts make the story compelling, not the author's writing.
Sounds as if it were written by a third-grader. Details were inaccurate and author repeats himself over and over. I couldn't wait for it to be over..
