Drop the contrived twist, then improve the payoff the current ending is too disappointing.
Stephen King's The Wind Through the Keyhole
The author fails from the beginning by never justifying the reason the aliens would need camouflage in the first place. On a primative earth, they could have survived very nicely without any disguise. More time is spent on trivial details then developing supposedly important relationships, and the aliens sexual awakening and preoccupation is laughable. If this book had been written in the 50s I would forgive its simplistic take of life on earth but I would never recomend this book.
Not sure he could have done anything to salvage this book, but his performance lacked drama.
Okay, the idea of finding something alien down deep in the ocean is an oft-repeated story line but having the alien(s) trying to find it too was great. Fabulous fun hearing about all the different lives that the alien lived. Loved it! Excellent performance by Eric Michael Summerer.
This story is intriguing because of the visceral descriptions of what the Antagonist is going through. I listen to books on my commute in my car, and this one is page turning, or in my case, car parking-with-the-radio-on experience! I would highly recommend this book!
when the antagonist began to care about humans
It started out as very interesting and then just turned into a romance novel. It doesn't qualify as a science fiction or a romance. It just was a washed out version of both. I did finish it, and didn't feel like it was a waste but not my type of book. Too light...
I would not recommend it to any serious SyFi fans or any romance fan.
the performance was very good.
a better ending
not a great performance but a decent effort for what he had to deal with in the naritive
allot of great elements but cut allot of corners on the story endend up just being annoying by the end
This is a very well performed eBook. The story starts with interesting scenario and then gains speed and excitement as it progresses. I plan to buy others by this team.
Really enjoy listening to these books sure am glad I was introduced to Audible. Best dollar I've ever spent.
the story line was easy to follow and guess ahead. Had some features in the story line that was fun to hear how it developed. The ending left me chuckling had it figured before I got to it. At least the language wasn't as bad as some I've heard. Over all it was worth it but not all that exciting.
This the third Haldeman novel I have downloaded. I read TMQ on espn and he turned me on to "The Forever War" which was great. "Forever Peace" was terrible, and "Camouflage" had potential. Haldeman to me deeply repressed issues that come through in his work. I am not a fan of having such gratuitus sex in my books. Forever War I felt as though the sex was an integral part of the the story. Depicting how social views can change over time. In "Camouflage" the sex scenes are creepy. I was disappointed through and through, and this will be the last of Haldeman's work I download.
