I think the audio version did a great job with this one. I have read the paper back, and I think the narrator did a better job with some than I did in my own imagination. This book hasn't been turned in to a movie like some of Spark's other stuff, but I think the audio version brings it to life just perfect!
My favorite part is when Gabby meets Stephanie. It makes me laugh because I can relate to being a sarcastic joker.
He has great range and does a great job with all the voices. Each have a personality he brings to life!
I would take Travis out because he sounds HOT!!
I am a Nicholas Spark's Junkie!! This is one of my favorites and my husband and I listen over and over again!!
I have read/listened to many of Sparks books - and as time goes on - they become more predictable and slower - and slower........ I didn't even finish the story - since I found myself drifting and thinking of when is this going to be over. So - I moved on and went to another book. Not only was it slow and monotonous - but depressing as well. The narrator was good though.
The Characters had none, character that is. I really dislike the 'meet them & mate them' mentality. I could not even finish this pathetic story, although I'm sure it was almost over.
My Mother has always said, that it is impossible for a male author to write the part of a woman, in this case I'd agree. The simplistic thought process of the main character was extremely disappointing. As a mother of three children I find it almost impossible to get into a good book, so when I get the chance I'd rather not waste my time as I did listening to this.
A friend and I wanted to listen to a romantic story which we would then discuss. We picked this as the author has been successful and it's set at a Carolina beach. However, we were both disappointed - although that in itself gave us plenty to discuss. I listened to it at 2X speed on my iPhone so that I could get through it quickly.
Have not read the print version
but the audio version was great. My wife and I like to listen to one of his books when on a long trip and the miles just melt away.
You never know what to expect next.......there is always an unusual twist.
This book will make you laugh and cry and laugh
I can't compare as I have not read the print version
I have listened to a few of Nicholas Sparks', typically after something a bit more serious and hard hitting. His stores are a bit predicable and I have come to realize each has a twist that is unexpected. I do enjoy his work but find them similar...The Notebook , Dear John, The Choice etc. but when looking of this type of store Sparks does it very well.
I am very particular about my narrator's . A bad one will make me stop listening to a book. Graham is an enjoyable narrator and fits the story type. A good combination writer/narrator.
I liked the twist, unexpected.
I look forward to more Spark's novels
Didn't read print version.
This is not my usual sort of book, so I can't really compare it to others I've read.
He has a very engaging voice. A little bit of accent and a nice mellow flow of speaking.
I think Gabby. She has a deep down earthiness that I liked.
I watched the Notebook and cried my eyes out ( I have no idea why this is a good thing). I thought I'd try more of Nicholas Sparks work and since I listen to a lot of books, this was the way to go. Again, I cried through parts of it, not knowing for sure how it would end. Glad I wasn't listening at work :) I really enjoyed all of this book and went back and bought four more of his books. Well worth the credit.
Yes, I said it!
The BEST was the love story and the Worst was how the love story started.
Of Course I LOVE Nicholas
The boat scene was my absolute favorite part.
uhmmmmmm well....to stop looking for love because it will find you.
Romantic, hopeful, funny
The man that Travis was. He never gave up on Gabby.
When Travis went and assisted in Gabby's physical therapy for the first time in the book. I loved how it was described.
Great performance. Very happy with the ending. Good and easy.
