Part of my job is cleaning vacation rental homes so while doing so I love to listen to books! Mystery books and suspense are the BEST!
I thought this book was a good listen. The beginning and the whole love story part was really great. The part during the last 5-6 chapters went a little slow for me...but good overall story!
This book is beyond amazing. Toward the middle I felt like it jumped around a lot, but even that couldn't take away from how awesome the story is.
Nicholas Sparks never disappoints me and this was no different. As typical, it has a sad tone, but his novels touch your heart!
I really liked the beginning of the book. I loved the beginning of their romance. I wasn't expecting it to take the turn it did and after awhile, it just seemed like the author was ruminating on this choice that needs to be made. It's just really depressing and stagnant after the first 1/4 ends.
I think it would have been more enjoyable if this choice wasn't lingering for so long. I mean, it makes sense why the choice takes so long to make and that's the nature of the issue (sorry, I'm trying really hard not to give anything away), but I got bored really fast.
Maybe? I liked him as a narrator. He captured the voices of the characters really well.
Maybe if they were able to base it off an abridged version. This story really doesn't need to be told in more than an hour.
Wasn't expecting this book to be so depressing and the latter half seems to be written in a different style than the first half. Like, the first half has momentum and is uplifting and really easy to get through. Once that part finishes, it drags on and on and left me sitting there like "is it finished yet??"
Holter did a good job conveying the emotion of the story.
I can't lie I cried at the end. Such a sap!
Top 3 so far!
Travis and Gabby - the main characters. Great characters.
Entire plot was well done
Ending was very surprising. It was not what I expected in the most pleasant way. Loved the ending!
I love the way this book is written and enjoyed it all the way through. Nicholas Sparks is one of the only romance writers that I enjoy reading. He makes his characters so compelling that you just want more and more of them. I haven't come across one of his books yet that is a sappy love story.
I would probably try another book, yes. Though, this book was so predictable and slow moving. I found myself literally trying to move the book along.
The narrator was fine, but the music between chapters was SO annoying! Who had that idea to play relaxation music at the start/end of chapters or sections? It distracted me and added absolutely nothing to the narration.
I'm glad it is a short book and was one sale when I bought it! It's a perfect book to listen to when you may be slightly distracted because you won't miss a thing if you inadvertently stop listening for a minute or two.
The idea behind the story was decent but the build up was slow and the entire novel was predictable. The music that was played periodically was distracting and, quite frankly, annoying. Decent book, but not a favorite of mine by any stretch.
I love the way he loved her!
Stephanie, because she encouraged Travis and Gabby without them really knowing that was what she was doing.
When Gabby met the vet! LOL
Travis with the way he loved Gabby and "The Choice" he made for love. I would have done the same.
I got so caught up with the story of how they met that I forgot the beginning of the book. AND as soon as I remembered with his walk into the hospital, I cried until the last chapter.
No. The angst in Nicholas Sparks' stories is just too painful to be borne more than once. Does nobody in his imaginary world ever have any opportunity for happiness?
That said, the writing skill is flawless and the performance outstanding.
Not very credible, but I'm happier with it than I would have been otherwise.
I think I'm done with Nick. I'm suffering too much with his characters. The quality of my life will improve greatly when I no longer remember the plots to his stories.
