Wow... I'm not sure what to say...... At first I thought it was the reader... Then the writer.. I did not enjoy either of them....
If you think you will enjoy a story where the primary character, a 23 year old female, is held as a sexual slave by her family and peers. A story where her father has locked her in a cage in the past, and will do so again if she tries to leave home to live on her own. A story where her brothers and mother will assist the father in every way, without hesitation, you will enjoy this one a great deal.
It's a bad story. I tried to listen to it 4 times and failed to finish it every time. Only a person who is really, really into female humiliation would even consider this one. It has no business in the fantasy category and is only romantic if you are into sadistic behavior.
I enjoyed listening to this book, the narrator was wonderful in rendering the characters and their thoughts, speech, actions. I found the prides interesting and within a short time I felt a kinship with the main pride. The female lead is refreshingly strong and feminine. What I would like to have experienced was a more in depth, vicarious involvement "as part of the pride" in their werecat form. I am hoping to find that in the sequel which I look forward to hearing!
This first Title, "Stray" started out pretty slow and I kept waiting for something to happen, anything to happen. I almost gave up on it but hate to not finish a book and the second half picked up and ended in a place that has intrigued me to go on to the second book, "Rogue". The main character Faith, annoys me some in her simplistic, stubborn view of the world and I get tired of her tough girl attitude but will continue on to see where this character might end up.
