The narrator is fantastic! He ascribes many different voices to the characters that makes it really enjoyable to listen to.
My favorite character is Siri because of how much her character grows and expands over the course of the book.
He brings interpretation of the characters. He attributes some voices that give the characters depth beyond what is explicitly written in the book.
Yes, but it's way too long!
I would definitely recommend this book for anyone that likes fantasy, and the work of Brandon Sanderson. It's well made and something nice to listen to while we all wait for the last WOT book.
I liked the mystery in the plot. I kept wondering how things were going to go and there are plenty of twists and turns, really nice and suspenseful.
I did want to listen to it all in one sitting, but I have work and other things going on.
You might be turned off by how the magic system works in this book at first, although once you get into the meat of the book it all starts to make a lot more sense and it feels less gimmicky.
don't know, haven't read it.
the ending, or near it, and it needs to not be revealed.
excellent use of voice. remained in character.
power can be unexpected.
This was the first of Brandon Sanderson's books that I didnt LOVE. It was good though, it did have its moments but overall it was just kind of lack luster. This would be a good one to listen to in between titles you are really waiting for if there is nothing else out there you can decide on.
As always, Sanderson comes up with a very interesting world with its own very interesting types of magic and power. The result is engaging and creative and fun.
Mistborn by the same author, because of the well-developed use of unique magic.
The reader grew on me, and now I like him. One of the characters, especially, has kind of a surfer-type speech quality that is difficult, once started, to grow complex and deep as it needs to, but I liked his portrayal of the characters and the narration. He is also just a bit slow in his reading.
GET ANOTHER READER!!!!
I have loved all the books that Sanderson has written so far, so I would give him a shadow of doubt that the story would be good if I had time to read it to myself or if it had a better reader.
I don't want to have to listen to reader that reads to me as if I am learning that the period means stop. The reader was jerky... it was like he had to pause or take a breath after every sentence. He was so distracting from the story that I couldn't even follw it. I tried speeding the voice on my Ipod but it was still bad. My recommendation is re-read with ANOTHER reader that has emotion and more confidence.
The redeeming quality is that it comes from an author that is usually very creative.
Wish I could get a version with a different reader or exchange this one for another story... what a waste of money!
Sanderson introduces yet a new setting with a facinating look at Gods and magic. I just love it!
Great story, too bad there is not a sequel.
If you like Game of Throne, or Robert Jordan you will love this book.
Brandon Sanderson creates a detailed world with laws and rules and mechanics. He is a facinating story teller and I am looking forward to his future works. Mysterys suck you in and all is slowly reveled. Lots of twists and turns.
I've read the rest of his books, this is probably the worst of his books but still decent.
I would have preferred the narrator for the mistborn books. Some of the intonations were just off and not very good.
I would definitely recommend this audiobook to others. Brandon writes another refreshing world and fills it with life and color.
The new angle on light being the basis of power.
Lightsong, of course.
Heroes come from the most unlikely places.
