Definitely a must read. The author appears to have done extensive research and brings all of the cities of Pakistan and Afghanistan to life. I was not able to put it down until it was finished. I found myself sitting in the car waiting to turn off the motor so that I would not be kept in suspense. Unfortunately, as soon as one suspense drama was completed, another started, so, as I said, I couldn't put it down

Mr. Forsyth is usually a very good listen. However there were many parts of the book that just seemed to cause me to drift off to other thoughts. Then I would have to backup and listen to the same part over again.
The narrator had something to do with tediousness of the story --- he seemed to "plod" along with little enthusiasm.
The character of the original afghan man, simple strong and motivated.
Well this reminds me of syriana.
It takes one to know one.
This book is brilliant and a smart read.A very nice way to increase brain size
Cannot answer this as I've not read the book.
The story/characters is fiction but very applicable to today's Middle East relationships and wound around a plot that reveals significant research. The history/environment of the plot is factual. The complexities and characters are interwoven in such a way to be entertaining without being tedious.
His vocal characterizations made listening so much easier to follow the plot. Great job.
The most moving portion was the ending; fast moving, unanticipated, and tradition made informative.
Highly recommend to anyone interested in international relations, or Middle East history, or international intelligence.
Wow, this guy is the best. He does his homework, his characters are well developed, and his stories are outstanding. I read/listen to everything he does and they are all fantastic.
The Afghan is not Forsyth's best novel, but it is far better than any political thriller since the Cold War. The narration is fine and this is an overall good listen. More than once, I remained in my parked car until a convenient break in the action. If there is a better measure for an audiobook than that, I'd like to hear of it.
In doing his research, the author found some interesting facts, and felt compelled to use each and every one of them in the novel. This made some subplots quite contrived, and seemingly unnecessary to move the story forward. The narrator was good, and did his best to keep a somewhat mundane storyline interesting. Somewhat entertaining, but not really worth the listen.
Each word counts and builds a plot gathering momentum and visual story. At a writer's conference a few years ago we all felt FF is a master of the story. The narration is wonderful. While slow in the beginning the layers count. Incredible research and restraint leaving much to contemplate.
I give this one 4 stars. I found it very entertaining. It moved at a good clip and held my interest. The plotline was well developed and there was plenty of action. It did seem like one of the subplots was somewhat extranneous and could have been tied in differently, but the author must have had his reasons. All in all a good listen that you will enjoy if you like this author.
Great audio book. I thouroughly enjoyed it. It has a compelling plot, good character creation and well researched details. The Narration was very well done and not overly acted.
