This is hard to fathom that this is Andrew Peterson's first foray into the thriller genre. Dick Hill does a great job of bringing all characters to life. Make this a character revelation to look forward to!
suspenseful with great plot. was not familiar with author but will be looking for more from him in future. My favorite narrator of all time is Dick Hill. That was the deciding factor. another terrific job.
enjoyed this book..the protagonist was believable given his background and while the ending was a bit flat, it opened the way for a sequal...most characters were weaved well into an absorbing story...
I love audible books and my husband does not like to read books nor does he listen to audible books on his own. When we travel I try to find books that he will like. My husband was Black Ops so I bought this book thinking he would like it, or if not true, would hate it....Well he really liked the detail and felt that the author did his research.
It takes a lot to impress me, and Andrew Peterson blew me away with this novel. First To Kill is a well plotted, fast paced thriller that I think combines the attention to detail and precision prose of a Lee Child with the story development and character depth of a P.T. Deutermann. Peterson is a one of the gifted: a storyteller. And getting Dick Hill to read this thriller was a total coup! If you like guns blazing, bombs blowing things up and characters you can relate to and root for you should check out "First To Kill".
Good action work. Not the most belivable characters, but still entertaining.
1st book I have listen to by Peterson, and its great. The plot is rich ingood scenes but does not get bogged down. Characters are very good. This is one of thoses books you can not put down until your done. If fact I have listen to it again and still love the book and characters, in fact I have gone out of my way to tell others.
Dick Hill is excellent and put life into the characters.
I really hope that Peterson has more books of this quality coming to us in future
If you like Jack Reacher and Bob Lee Swagger, this is the book for you.
I want more from this author and these characters!
Lots of action!
Impossible to put down.

"A THRILLING RIDE"
Since I'm new to this genre, I'd have to compare it to "The Gray Man", the first in a 4 book series written by Mark Greaney and narrated by Jay Snyder. Both books are a really good introduction to the espionage Special Ops mystery thriller genre. The main characters are personable and intelligent with a dry wit. The narrators in both are an outstanding pairing, responsible for a 50% share of my admiration.
Always have to go with "star of the show", in this case Nathan McBride. Dick Hill is one of favorite narrators.
Yes, but sharing it here would be a spoiler.
I'm a big fan of the Nathan McBride thrillers now. I plan on getting the other 2 books in this series as soon as I finish writing this review! 😄👍
There were many, but the torture of Arnie Bridgestone was narrated so well that I got squeamish !!
The story was sort of predictable. There were some twists that were meant to surprise the reader, but one could see them from a mile away. Nothing really surprised me, but the story was not dull, it was action filled and full of well timed humor. The narration was top notch and never missed timing on the jokes. For me the book stands out because of the narration and makes the story feel better. I am happy I bought it.
