i haven't finished reading the book. so far it is interesting and well written, but since my review is on the audio book, and i can't listen beyond part way through chapter 3, it's been enough to form my opinion. The voices he gives the characters in the book are so bad, it is beyond description. I am going to just read from this point on. I am just thankful, I bought the kindle version at the same time.
The author seems to be trying to mimic the Jack Reacher books. Even has the same narrator. Didn't work for me.
A good story line with good development of characters, lately missing in Lee Child's Reacher series. Looking forward to the sequels already available. This was the first book in the series. Same reader as Reacher books who is a great narrator.
Good story for line... to much extra garbage... like as he waited for his mark the blue flower moved with the wind but the tree next to it did not seem effected... come on this is a thriller not a love store would I say listen to it yes.but expect about a total of an hour of listening just saying nothing to do with the plot.
I struggled to finish this one. I loved the jack reacher series but this one was a drag for me. the narrator made me picture someone much older than what was described and female voices were worse. I think the storyline could have been improved.
the story line was great loved the two heros. can't wait for the next installment. my issue is with the performance, it sounded like he had something in his mouth the whole time
The characters are well-developed over the story.
The plot is fast-paced but the narrator unnecessarily slows things down with his phrasing.
Actually no. I'll read another Andrew Peterson title but won't listen to Dick Hill.
The author wrote strong, capable women characters that were equal to the male characters. Dick Hill does them a disservice by voicing them as weak, hesitant and soft-spoken. There are tough hookers and a smart, well-qualified FBI supervisory agent which Hill voices incorrectly. He uses the wrong pacing and the wrong phrasing. It really detracts from the story and turns them into something that's different from what the author wrote.
This story was good, but a little violent for my taste. I thought the action moved quite fast but the narrator took away from my enjoyment of the story. I really do not like the way he reads female voices. Even the male voices take away the excitement and sense of urgency.
I would have done 5 stars except for the one act that the good guys do to the bad guy. The characters are well developed and the intrigue keeps you on the end of your chair. and its nice to listen to a book that doesn't go into great details of a love making scene. I get so tried of what they call hot and steamy scenes it's nice to have an mystery author that doesn't feel the need to waste time on unnecessary writing.
solid performance and incredible story. would recommend to friends and family. look forward to hearing the next book.
