This was really cute. I agree with another review regarding some of this author's narrators but I think this one was well read. I loved Fred and thought he stole the book. The main character did get a bit whiney about her age, but other than that this is a really fun read!
Nina and Fred are a cute pair, but when you add Alex to the mix, it is sexy! Fred knows exactly how to help Nina get her man, and keep him, and Charity is great with giving her hints on how to reel him in.
The narration is nicely executed, and I would listen to more books read by her. Honestly, if you don't like the narrators people, read the book. But I like Susan, I think she did a great job of not trying to make herself seem like a guy, but she played the characters well. She really did justice to Norma and the other book club readers characters. I think that the way Crusie chooses to use he said she said a lot of the time can be covered up well with her wonderful stories!
Humor, a great looking sexy doctor, and a basset hound. What more could you ask for? :)
This is one of my favorite Jennifer Crusie books but I was disappointed with the narrator. I still enjoyed it but found her treatment of Nina to be a bit on the whiney side. Loved Fred..:)
11th/12th Grade Reading Teacher Love reading and love listening to audio books in my car.
This was a cute - if predictable - and entertaining little read. It is much shorter than I usually like, but it fit the bill for my drives to and from work for a few days. It was pretty predictable and might have been better with more character development.
Jennifer Crusie has the quirkiest way of writing that is hard to draw a bead on but always likable. This was sweet, cute, silly and a lot of fun. My favorite book of hers thus far is Welcome to Temptation and where I like some of her stories more than others you can't go wrong with a Crusie book. If you just want some lovely entertainment this is the one for you!
I don't normally read this genre, however, Ms. Crusie has made me want to purchase another one of her books. Romance books sure have changed since the 1970s and I am glad I picked this up. The narrator was wonderful, The characters believable and most of all Fred is the great glue that brought them together. Thanks for a thoroughly enjoyable, laugh out loud reading.
This is an old fashioned romance, reflective likely of the time it was written but disappointing after reading her more current stories.
