McCort gives an excellent point of view on what it was like for him to grow up in Ireland. Humor, sadness, and often feeling like I was a fly on the wall in his home.
i have read the book before. now after listening to the real frank mccourt tell is story with his accent brings the story a whole new life. great story of poverty and triumph. i highly recommend this book.
The story itself is quite compelling, but having it read by the author himself to emphasize the words and phrases in his own way, adds a unique and incomparable dimension. It literally brings the story to life, as if Frank McCourt were sitting across the table and telling you the story of his early life.
Frank Mccourt's life was Heartbreaking, Depressing seemingly hopeless at times! I truly admire and respect this man for all he accomplished with his will to pull himself out of the ghetto's in Ireland and following him on his journey for a better life in America. I've listened to all his books several times and watched the Movie Angela's Ashes numerous times. It's sad he passed away way too early. I wanted to hear more of his stories. RIP Frank McCourt.
