Let me start out by saying that I am a huge fan of the author Sherrilyn Kenyon. I have totally enjoyed this series.
Well, audible claims that the narrator is Scott Brick but actually it's William Dufris and I have to say that he is the worst at this job. He makes everybody sound like a gay Simpson personality and mind you , I'm gay so I mean no disrespect by that. The way he pronounced the names almost pushed me over the edge. He belongs in Audible Jail!
This book was so poorly narrated that I could not get through chapter 3 before I couldn't stand listening. I can't really even rate the story because Scott Brick did such a horrible job reading it. I have never stopped listening to a book but I just couldn't listen to the story any longer. Scott Brick sounded like the narrator of the old Batman TV series, "Back in Gotham City..........." He might have been good for something else but not narrating a whole book or at least not this series.
Holter Graham or Fred Berman
Sorry Sherrilyn Kenyon but I couldn't make it through this one. The Narrator was horrible. I gave it a 3 because I couldn't get past the 3rd chapter. After following "Acheron" I was excited to keep going with the series but I'm going to look more closely at the narrator before purchasing next time.
I've read the book months ago. After reading I was prepared.. but I needed something to listen to and love the series.. so I purchased this audio... I have to agree with just about everyone who said the narration was awful. It's a great book and having read it and knowing what's supposed to be expressed helped, but for those that have just listened to this you would get a completely different outlook on characters. Great book for the series.. not a recommendation for audio. After Holter Graham, not many narrators would sound right, but this narrator sucked.. Expressions wrong, pronouncing off, and just not a great voice.
I really couldn't stand this narrator. So much so, that I decided to buy the next book in paperback rather than suffer through him again. Bring back Holter Graham - he has the sexiest voice ever.
As for the story, it's a nice bridge story to set up the next phase in the Dark Hunter series. If you are a fan, you must read this book.
I so wanted to listen to another wonderful book by Sherrilyn Kenyon but I like many other just couldn't get past the narrator. His voice and inflections are just not made for this type of book. I lost interest almost from the beginning but tried to hang in there just for the sake of the story line. I couldn't do it. I only finished a few chapters and won't be turning that story back on again! What a disappointment!
I like the book the best and hate the reader!
the story its self. I love Sherrilyn Kenyon!
Get a different person to read it.
They totally need to have someone else prefornm this book cause I can't even finish listening to this guy . He is that BAD! I was excited to buy this and now am wanting my money back.
His Voices are lame and some are a bit offensive.
I enjoyed the book but after going through the whole series I expect certain names and other words to be said the same way. They really needed to stick with a single narrator and not have a few different ones. His rendition of women was horrible.
I loved all the narrators in the previous books and could not wait to listen to One Silent Night. That is until I heard the narrator's voice. At first I thought it was a joke but it became painful to finish listening to the book. I think this had a very good story line but it should be re-recorded.
Well I'm about 1/4 through listening to this book and I'm off to the book store to buy the paper back. Yuck! Yuck! Yuck! Sherrilyn Kenyon's books are great and I just can't listen to this guy destroy this book any more. Really...... Didn't anyone listen to this before they released it!!!! Someone at McMillan should send Sherrilyn flowers to apologize for the slaughter!!!!
I've read almost the entire dark hunter series. While I enjoyed reading about Stryker and his background, the narrator almost killed the book for me. He made the women sound really whiny. I couldn't get into it because of his voice. Would have liked it better otherwise. It is short but definitely fills in some gaps about Stryker and his story.
